My lodger (same age as me) is a complete Transformers geek and its scary how many he has (yes, he buys all the latest ones that make their way over here). This means I get to hear all about Transformer-related news and apparently there is a live action movie in the works with a teaser trailer about to get a release... With that in mind, I ask you: is this a good idea or the worst idea since Wisconsin

You love them too, DTH, don't lie. I've seen the rows and rows of Transformers in your room.

I absolutely refuse to see this film, completely. And yes, I did love the animated series for awhile when it was on TV. Though it's not my favorite and never really was.

I am the lone vote on "need a trailer". It could be fun. It could be. But boy, it could easily be the greatest screwup in the world. Not only do you have the usual fanboy expectations versus getting the rest of the world into the theatre issue, you also have the very big problem of translating the Transformers into something realistic looking.
It'll be interesting, that's for sure.

Well, now there's timing! They've released the first teaser. It's actually pretty cool. www.transformersmovie.com (click on the Announcement link) It doesn't show much, but neat concept. I like the transforming title.

I absolutely refuse to see this film, completely. Well, taking a firm opening stance is a nice first step, sure. Listing actual reasons, even better. -D

I'm there. There is no way they could do this - good, bad, ugly - that I'm not going to want to see it.

I'm with Shalen. I don't see how it could be anything but good. Even if it's very bad.

I'm with Shalen. I don't see how it could be anything but good. Even if it's very bad. The best description I've ever read of the concept was by a comic reviewer when the Transformers first came back in 2002: "Some people don't get the Transformers. It's simple. They're big robots. And they change into things. And they fight. This is beautiful and mad. If you do not get this, there is something missing in your soul."Pretty much says it all right there. I'm most decidely in. -D

I've been foaming at the mouth pretty much non-stop since before this was even official. And while I admit that it has an awful lot of crap potential to sidestep, when opening day comes around, I'll be there for it like Bon Jovi.

Live action is a bad idea, but for a Michael Bay Transformers film? I'm all over it.

Although I usually run screaming at the sound of Michael Bay's name, the trailer is intriguing. But does anyone else (people who grew up in the 80s, anyway) miss the awesome transforming sound? Chit-chi-choo-choo-cho-chit! Man, they need the sound. But otherwise it looks cool.

I don't care if Michael "Pearl Harbour" Bay is doing whatever with it. IT'S A LIVE ACTION Transformers movie. It will be bad no matter what. I will still see it because it is a LIVE ACTION Transformers movie.
