Well, watching the trailer has done nothing to quell the bad feeling in my gut, but at least it doesn't look like it won't do the book at least a little justice. I do like the dragons.

No thoughts about Temeraire? That book being made into a movie by Peter Jackson was the real reason I brought this topic back to life.
I mean, Huge majestic dragons like flying battleships in the napoleon wars, it makes for a movie that could make your eyes bulge. Not to mention the beautiful story of the relationship between Temeraire and his captain, who originally was a navy captain.
This is a movie with great potential for both story and visuals.
