But who won series 2? I believe that was an overweight man. Double-standard much? <sarcasm> Because it's only okay for men to be overweight. Never women. </sarcasm> Jeez.

thats the point i was tryin to make but i guess i wasnt specific enough. its total crap and i think simon is right some times, and i think simon is wrong some times. and he cant treat americans like that. he comes to america, wants americans to make him rich, then is surprised when theres some that're over weight that can sing. lets one through but wont let another through. and im not going to pretend that race or sex didnt play a role in that. hence the link. thats why i turned it off and wont turn it back on. cuz thats just wrong. but u know nobody even batted an eye. so much of this crap just looked over. we're all supposed to stick up for each other everyone has to be represented in all things, otherwise we arent very well living in a country thats BY the people FOR the people. its more like BY the media FOR the people, or BY the popular FOR the people. the crap makes me sick, and nobody even bats an eye

I'd venture to say that Cowell would treat anyone this way, regardless of nationality. Heck, he's apparently doing the same sort of show in the UK. So, it isn't that he can't "treat Americans like that". It's that he can and does treat EVERYONE like that. But hey, in addition to being by the people and for the people, America also advocates free speech. Personally I find Seacrest's method of torturing the contestants during the elimination process far less constructive and far more offensive anyway.

actually he is racists towards americans. there was another time in season 2 or season 3 where the two other judges walked out on him because he said something to the effect of 'all these americans are so stupid and cant sing' or something like that. it was a while after 911, i cant really remember that well. but i do remember it. randy was like you cant talk to them like that, plus im an american and hes like i can bloody well say whatever i want bla bla bla and randy walked out. i cant remember if paula was sick that day, or if that was another time. but it was really messed up and offensive, ryan can say whatever he wants, thats his job to talk to the peoples. but simon is very racist towards americans imo. he knows what hes doing coming down here. then picking on some people cuz they're fat (overweight etc) is just very wrong. and then letting others through without saying anything... selective enforcement anyone? hippocrit? yes?

I don't know if "racist" is the correct term to use for anti-Americanism. Americans can be any color (for that matter, so can Britons), and racism denotes a bias against a group of people based on shared physical traits, usually color.
And there are plenty of Americans who think they can sing when they really can't. I think that pop culture, in general, doesn't know what good singers sound like. There are some exceptions (Christina Aguleria has a nice set of pipes, though her wandering all over the scale drives me nuts), but compare the vocal talents of the big pop stars to those of more classically trained people (I'm thinking opera or even Broadway singers).
I don't see a reason why he would need to be nicer to Americans after 9/11. If you couldn't sing before 9/11, afterwards, should someone suck up to you and say you can just because your nation had a terrorist attack.
