Haha what is that saying about the latter duo when Ren and Stimpy are considered to be "more adult"?

Ren and Stimpy have more ADULT themes. Sponge Bob does not have removable nipples

My question is, are these two even comparable? I mean, honestly.
Of course, Spongebob and Patrick have been accused of rampant homosexuality by those on the ultra-conservative side. So you could call that an adult theme. But still...
So yeah. I just felt that I had to give a reason for not voting in this particular poll.

they are very comparable. Two best friends who often feud.Weird bizarre and sometimes disturbing plots. A bunch of wacky characters. Both have constantly annoyed neighbors. Lots of gross out moments

I had to vote for SB&PS, because I've always hated R&S, even as a kid. I was actually a very conservative kid - I always hated gross-out stuff. Except for horror movies. But I hate bodily-fluid jokes, fart jokes, low-blow jokes, toilet humor altogether is completely tasteless. And I've always felt that way. Burping is not offensive or necessarily tasteless (unless you're having to smell someone doing it, or you're the one burping), though it feels great to do it sometimes.
But I love SpongeBob. That show is much less utterly disgusting.

How can anyone truly hate Ren&Stimpy. You can say you hate it all you want. You will at least smile or smirk by the end of the episode.

How can anyone truly hate Ren&Stimpy. Very easily. It made me insanely nauseous. It was so utterly disgusting, so incredibly revolting - I would begin to feel so sick watching it, that I thought I was getting a headache. And there was nothing I hated as a kid more than headaches. I'd take pills and they'd never work - sometimes I remember the pain I'd get from them was so intense, I would punch myself in the head. But then, I lived with some of the most abusive parents I'd ever encountered in my life or imagination - sometimes I think I did that in hopes all would go black and be silent, for good. So there's that. And the fact that the show was stupid and completely tasteless. But I admit I did love the Log song, and sang it whenever someone else would watch the show.

Ren and Stimpy had two basic flavours. There were the episodes that have the same effect on me as Lazario describes there, and there were ones that made me just love the show really, really hard.
I have the same issue with South Park. When they write grotesque, I simply can't be bothered to watch either toon. (the South Park where they "eat" by sitting on their food and then excrete out the mouth makes me ill) But when they write off the wall and relatively clean, I can't get enough of it. The Log Song is a great example, as is Don't Whiz on the Electric Fence.

I concur with South Park -- it has such moments of comedic brilliance and spot-on social commentary that it should be a "can't miss" show, except it's gotten far too offensive and vulgar in content and attitude, trying to one up previous seasons (which were quite vulgar to begin with). I've long since stopped watching it, and I can't say I cry myself to sleep.
Too often.

No matter how gross South Park got, it never was as disgusting as Ren & Stimpy.

South Park has way grosser and disturbing episodes than Ren & Stimpy. Have you seen the Little Crime Stopper Episode or Scott Tenormen must die. Those episodes have way grosser stuff than Ren & Stimpy. For Example In Scott Tenormen must die Cartman Makes Scott Tenormen eat his parents in Ren & Stimpy their is just fart jokes, Immature humor and POWDERED TOAST MAN. I guess some may find Ren & Stimpy offensive but South Park (even though I love it) Is way more offensive.

In Scott Tenormen must die Cartman Makes Scott Tenormen eat his parents No, I haven't seen that episode - but it sounds hilarious. What you're saying there, is the idea makes you sick. But in reality, the way Ren & Stimpy did their gross-out gags, they were always more disgusting. Plus, nearly every single episode of R&S was meant to absolutely make the viewer launch vomit. The style of the show itself was to make the characters lose their minds and their humanity - South Park always remains organized and there's always some element of satire to what they're doing. Plus, I have only seen 1 or 2 episodes of South Park where they did something really gross. I mean, really gross. Yet, almost every single episode of Ren & Stimpy went absolutely too far. And again - the style in which they do it makes all the difference. They show ultra-closeups, have constant bodily fluid and mucus, bile, puss, slime, sludge, and other absolutely unmentionably filthy "gags." How can you honestly compare that to South Park's violence? The only really gross things I've seen on South Park was the rodent that "journeyed" inside someone's body, and the stupid Mr. Hanky character, the poop stick - which I absolutely hated seeing in commercials, it's one of the reasons I didn't like the show before I saw an episode with him in it. Remember, I said as a kid I always hated jokes about gross things. Well, then I actually watched the Christmas episode where Stan (or Kyle, I can't tell them apart) can see him and the others can't - and I swear to Jesus, I nearly died laughing. They actually found an ingenius way to make it funny (for 1 episode - they shouldn't have brought him back). To me, it sounds like you haven't seen Ren & Stimpy in a long time, or you'd probably remember just how incredibly gross and unfunny it was.

I thought its comedy was built purely on causing offense. However, I've seen some of the latter episodes of the show and some are amazing. My personal favourite is the one where Cartman is convinced he's a ghost. Hilarious NAMBLA also makes me laugh. Especially the real NAMBLA I also really like the LotR rip off There are a few episodes that really gross me out tho: the ninja episode, in particular, where Butters' gets a throwing star stuck in his eye, that is just disturbing and not funny to me.
