I was just wondering... are any of you (like me) mildly addicted to watching pro poker on TV? It's one of my favourite things to watch on the tube these days, because you can tune in and out whenever you like, and I'm always trying to improve my game.
(on that note, I'm up about $100 on my Milwaukee trip... hooray for taking your friends' money!)
So are you guys into this? If so, who do you like to watch?

I used to watch a lot of Celebrity Poker Showdown, but at 2 hours a pop, the episodes were just a chore to get through after a while. Occasionally I watch a bit of the World Series of Poker.
But I do love playing, and I'm pretty good as long as everyone else in the game has been drinking heavily. We should play next time you're in the area. Then you can win and complain about how all my money is the same colo(u)r.

And worth less than Canadian money, too!
I actually never watch the celebrity games. Partly because as you say, they're too long, but mostly because they're usually pretty poor players. I'd rather learn from the pros!

Back when I had cable, I'd watch a little -- poker is one of those games that drifts in and out of my interest zone, like chess and playing chicken with shopping carts. I guess you have to see it as a learning tool, otherwise it's one of those cases of, "I could be having a LOT more fun doing this myself instead of watching someone else do it."
(See: Golf, Bowling, commercials about herpes preventative medication, etc.)

I do like watching poker occasionally, but its one of those things that depend on the mood I am in. I have to be in an excact state of mind to watch poker, or pool, or anything on G4 involving video came competitions. It's not like The Simpsons where I can watch it no matter what mood I am in.
