I *am* still playing, but it's been competing for time with Pandora Tomorrow, MGS: The Twin Snakes, and WarioWare Inc (which is just an amazingly fun total waste of time--highly recommended to anyone with a gamecube and a friend or two), not to mention work and the run of good weather we've been having in the NE. So, yes, I'm still chugging along, but it's pretty slow going.

Wow, that's stiff competition, I have to admit. WarioWare is indeed as advertised though: the ultimate videogame for people with a 5 second attention span, and devilishly fun because of it.
Gladius' depth continues to satisfy. Even if you put it off a bit, I'd still recommend you go back to it. Once the unit types start to really vary (as you make it to new lands) it just gets better.

Currently I am playing The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. This is such a great game. I've been playing it intensely for the past couple of months. The only other game I've played this much was The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, which was released 7 years before Morrowind was released. Bethesda really knows how to make a game.

Currently into Secret of Manna. I named the dude Chrono, the spirte Terra, and the girl Marle (all those names are from other Square SNES RPGs, Chrono and Marle from Chrono Trigger, and Terra from FF6).

I mentioned this in another thread, but I picked up Spider Man to relax a bit as I gear up for the wedding.
My advice is as follows: if you have a Gamecube, Xbox, or PS2, go get it. Go get it now.
They've created a scale model of the island of Manhattan for Spidey to play in. The majority of the gameplay is outdoors (if you remember the previous game, you weren't actually outside much), and they've made the webslinging manual (there's a button to shoot your web, another to speed boost, and another to jump). It's a little more effort to work, but it's FUN. Once you get the hang of it, it's flat out awesome. And the environment is just huge... it takes about 5 minutes of out and out screaming through the city at top speed to go from the north to the south of the island.
Now, mix in the fact that it's basically structured like a much less gruesome Grand Theft Auto. Spidey can pursue the story element (divided up into chapters that the player controls the progression of via a shopping list of to-do's) or he can just run around the city, stopping petty crimes (my favourite is stopping road-ragers... you get to jump on a moving car and pound the crap out of it) or just exploring the city. It occurred to me to try and find Ground Zero last night, so I slung down to the south end of the financial district, and they've got the pillars of light in the ground that you can check out. I couldn't believe it.
Anyways, it's repetitive in that it's a sandbox game, but it's great fun just doing things. I totally recommend it.
Oh, and I specified the platforms because apparently the PC version is ASS. It's not the same game, but has identical packaging, and is actually made for kids. Just sayin'.

Sh! Don't mention FF6! It gets Justin all crotchety. The greatest video game ever developed makes El Capitan crotchety? In God's name, why? -D

You're just making it worse, man. No doubt... well, best time to do it is probably when he's not here. Hey, maybe he'll be all tranquil from relaxation time upon his return. ;D (Thought the chief liked the FF series... not so VI? Pourqoui?) Oh yeah, and was just mildly curious about the Spider-Man 2 game- how DO you get out to the Statue of Liberty, anyway? For years I've read Spidey's various meetings out there with the Human Torch and thought, "There's nothing to swing from to get out there! How are you doing that?!" But I've seen screenshots from the game with him out there, so spill- what's the secret? Really solid clouds? -D

He gets out of there the same way he gets off of any tall building. He webs onto a passing 747. I mean, DUH.

(Thought the chief liked the FF series... not so VI? Pourqoui?) He likes the FF games... that feature Full Motion Video. He just (to my knowledge) has never held any love for the sprite based games... he doesn't hate them, he just doesn't seem them as good as Episode Cloud onwards. Naturally, I take the exact opposing view. I've never accepted movies as a substitute for gameplay, which I believe FF7 was guilty of. how DO you get out to the Statue of Liberty, anyway? <SPOILERS for the Spidey 2 game, if you were planning on playing it> It's true that Lady Liberty is hard to reach. But it is possible. The easiest way is to just wait until about 6th chapter, wherein Quentin Beck, who you earlier humiliated by proving your powers were real and not special effects, secretly becomes Mysterio, who in the game masquerades as an alien invader. Mysterio turns the Statue of Liberty into a statue of himself, and creates a string of low-hanging UFO's that you can pretty easily swing out to the island on. Once the fight's over, you automatically get ferried back without being able to explore much. (although before that happens, there's a funny moment where Spidey's clinging to the restored Statue's crown at it's highest peak, muttering to himself how on earth he's going to get back to Manhattan) The tougher way (and I haven't attempted this yet) is that there are occasionally helicopters flying through NYC, including over the water leading out to Staten. It's possible to web onto the bottom of the choppers and ride it out. I'd like to give this a try when I'm looking for something to do, although I can already sense the frustration coming on... looks tough.

I am currently playing Gamecube's Harvest Moon game. It's pretty embarassing...while everyone else is playing Spiderman and Final Fantasy, etc., I'm addicted to...a FARMING SIMULATOR!
But it is seriously a fun game to play. The longer you play, the more money you make, and you can buy better equipment, and that leads to elaborate farming schemes. For instance, I grow a tree for each fruit (peach, grape, orange, banana, and apple), I collect my crops, and I use my seed making machine to double my harvest in seeds, because fruit seeds are worth more than the actual fruit, so i make a helluva profit. Bwahahahaha I'm so proud of myself. Plus there's a whole thing about hybriding seeds, which I'm too tired to get into.

Got the Mega Man Anniversary Collection for my birthday last week, so I'm hip deep in junked robot carcasses right about now. The good news is that the Elec Beam/Rock Monster pause trick still works; the bad news is that I haven't even finished 1 yet, and there's 7 more games to go, plus the two arcade games. And the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection comes out next week, too. It's a gooooooood time to be an old-school gamer.

Seeing as how every major game company is unloading a majority of this year's most-awaited releases within the space of three months (argh, that's frustrating), it's kind of nuts keeping up with what's good out there.
Right now, I've taken a bit of a breather from MMORPGs until the WOW open beta begins... but that shouldn't be too long.
In the meantime I'm playing Rome: Total War, which is a terrific blast... unleash the puppies of war, I say, as I sic my wardogs on the enemy! Also, I'm planning on going through Planescape: Torment one more time for nostalgia's sake.
