I'll gladly give it a go! Shame about the unreliable ping, but if you're switching up it may prove no problem.
I've sent a Friend invite to your email address on Steam. Hopefully we can hook up over the weekend!

Hopefully so. I'm gong over to Cox tomorrow to see about some new internets machines. You might want to e-mail or friend request me again. I had no such request in my e-mail. What I did have in my e-mail was an unresponded-to request from Steam to validate my e-mail.

Hm. Maybe try me back, using my home email address. I'll send again when I get home later.

It's retro week at the Poole Ranch! I've been rediscovering how good Half Life 2 is, six years after the fact. I can hardly believe how well it's stood up to its age. It's still a joy to play through all those memorable action setpieces that just... keep... coming... There are entire chapters I forgot even existed, and 95% of the game still puts a goofy smile on my face. But that's got nothing on me downloading Super Metroid for the Wii over the weekend. Wow, for a game that came out SIXTEEN years ago, SM's still remarkably good too. Admittedly, having played the GBA/DS sequels that followed (Zero Mission, Fusion, etc) it's certainly not quite as refined as those games, but it's still extremely fun. Plus, seemed like a good idea to get revved up for Other M in a few weeks...

Out of curiosity, is anyone planning to download the new Castlevania game for XBLA? I am, due to my obsessive need to beat every Castlevania game (yes, even Judgment; don't remind me), but I've heard that it's better (and in some areas necessary) to play it in multiplayer mode. Just wondering whether anyone here's going to be playing it before I go trolling for people to call me "teh ghey" and "stoopid noob" online.

I am ashamed...but also in agreement about its awesomeness.

I'm unsure whether she or her husband will be the one playing, or if both of them will. I'll give her a shout-out to see. Meanwhile, I'm playing so much Red Dead Redemption that I'm starting to make Fallout 3 look like a one-night stand in comparison.

"Judging from the screenshots, Max's facial expression no longer makes it look like he's perpetually smelling stinky feet. That's a plus. " Yes indeed. Max's facial expression their is quite funny. I really love and enjoy playing Max Payne. -------------- Landau Peony Lotus Blossom print vneck scrub top

I'm a handful of hours into Metroid: Other M, and quite enjoying it. It's definitely a departure from the Metroid norm... the flipping between pseudo 2D and first person 3D is a big experiment, to be sure, but it's very, very playable. Like most of the critics, I'm a little confused at how timid Samus is portrayed to be. If I understand the timeline correctly, this is the second to last game in the Metroid canon (followed only by Fusion) but Samus is portrayed to be quite unlike what any of us thought the previously silent heroine ought to be. Still, very fun so far. Recommended!

now playing: Final Fantasy XII I'm playing "The Witcher", and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I might just start looking for the English translation of the books. I strongly recommend the books, even though the translation loses a lot of the original's language humor. Too bad that the translating/publishing process is dragging.

Proving that I'm always a half-decade late to everything, I'm currently playing Shadow of the Colossus. Only 3 colossi in so far, but I'm enjoying it. Even if I've spent most of my time hunting those lizards to increase my grip strength.

LEGO Star Wars. Husband and I just finished LEGO Indiana Jones. I just got into the LEGO games last year because I had always assumed they were really for small children and could not be entertaining for me. I was so very wrong. These games are great! Especially if you want to play a video game with your spouse that doesn't make you want to ritualistically murder them.

Recently played Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Interesting reimagining of the franchise... not as scary, but it's an intriguing concept (the game creates a psychological profile of you based on your actions, responses, and what items you examine... you can brand yourself an alcoholic, a lech, a family man, etc.), and it makes good use of the Wii-mote as your flashlight and cell phone.
Downloaded and blazed through the X-Men arcade game on Xbox 360. That game's still fun, but unlimited continues completely removes the challenge (everyone uses their mutant powers at all times because health is a non-issue), and it wasn't that hard to begin with.
Just started playing Left 4 Dead. Dual wielding pistols against zombie hordes? Yes please!
