That's just upsetting.
Now that guy will have no one to blame but himself when he dies a lonely geek. In fact, it may well be exactly what he deserves.

How much are playstations nowdays? It would seem to me cheaper to pay for the date yourself and get a free playstation than to do it the other way around. Unless PS2s have really come down in price since I last checked.

Of course, the obvious reply is that if you want any chance at all with the lovely lady, YOU TAKE THE DATE WITH THE LADY, and buy the PS2 on your own, regardless of price.
"Hi, I'm a hot girl who wants to teach you Portugese." "WHOA, is that Grand Theft Auto? Outta my way, sister!"

But that's the obvious answer, and what fun is "obvious"?
Of course, she could teach you how to say "kill a hooker" in Portuguese.

Yeah, but c'mon. Face the facts. Chances are you're not going to meet the love of your life on some stupid dating show. You're going to get one semi-painful, empty date out of it... and then what else to show for it?
My man was being smart and going with something that had a much better possibility of lasting and keeping him company (if in a different way).

Not to sound hoidy-toidy or anything, but for me, it's a matter of principle. Going with the PS2 is probably wiser in a strictly utilitarian sense, but choosing the girl just seems more "right" somehow. And that's not to say that picking the PS2 is such a terrible thing in and of itself, (albeit a bit rude.) but I think it indicates some disturbingly out-of-whack priorities.

I side with Bubba. Perhaps that's why I will singlehandedly cause the Video Game Crash of 2005!

*shrugs* I think the guy had guts to make the unpopular decision that was most probably more beneficial to him in the long run. Hmm... probably crappy date or certain thrilling gaming?
It's what I learned from UHF. You go with the "certain" Red Snapper... not what's in the "maybe" mystery box.

I probably would've picked the PS2, even though I already have one, because meeting random people like that freaks me out, and I can sell the new one and get a good amount of money for it.

I know I would have gone with the date, if for no other reason than to not crush the girl's self-esteem by choosing a $180 trinket over her company. It just seems so mean to me.
And this coming from someone who despises blind dates.
