What did I tell you about dating those kinds of women?
Now you've got no one to blame but yourself.

Plus, I got to use the word 'nerdgasm', which is one I don't drag out very often. Be glad I didn't go for 'Nintendork'.

I personally just wouldn't get a wii because the game library sucks royaly...yeah we got metroid and super smash and zelda coming out...all nintnedo games! Everything but the nintendo created games for the system suck...they need some third parties! The wii is basically a glorified flash game player or something...and it doesn't help that 75 percent of the games are based on nickelodeon cartoons...the system is just too kiddie.
Nintendo was always the best because they always had the BEST games. Just look at NES and SNES...probably about 50 amazing games for original nintendo and at least half that for the super nitendo. But then when the newer nintendo systems were released (i'm looking at you, n64) there were the 4 or 5 good games you got that were featuring mario/zelda/etc. and nothing else. The ps1 had a zillion good games compared to the n64. I think i actually might just go old and get a ps2 or for a new system an xbox 360 because both have at least 10 games I really want, and ps2 continues to have new games released for it. That's just my story, yo.

My wife, being ten kinds of awesome, staked out a store this weekend that promised to get five Wiis in -- and she snagged the second one (she said that they were all sold out within the time it took her to go through the checkout). Kinda nuts for being a console over a half-year old now, eh?
But I'm pretty happy. While I have the PC for my serious gaming, I've been really warming up to the idea of the Wii for a few reasons:
1. I played it at my brother-in-law's, and it was a blast. 2. This type of console is just built for people like Caramel who love games -- as long as they're simple and intuitive to pick up and play. 3. The virtual console has potential (release Chrono Trigger already, darnit!) 4. I haven't owned a console system since back in 2002-3 when my PS2 broke, and there's a part of me that would love to casually get back into console gaming.
Plus, we're getting a huge kick out of going around saying, "We should play Wii!"
So, haven't hooked it up yet (we spent $357 for the console, Wii Play [with the second remote], a second nunchuck attachment, and a cursed service plan), but it should be good times.

So, now that several of us have picked The System Which I Shall Not Name (cuz I still think it's completely ridiculous-sounding, I just prefer to call it 'my Nintendo'), does anyone want to exchange system numbers? There's no feature that's terribly interactive at this point, but it lets us 'borrow' Miis for use in Wii Sports and Wii Play, as well as the all-important Mii Parade. And I have some darn good looking Miis, so I suggest y'all take advantage. ALL SHALL LOVE MIIS AND DESPAIR!
You can find you system number on the first page of your address book. Mine is: 7894 4206 2083 6812
I'll need to have yours in my system also to make it work, so pony up, folks!

Lady Luck tried to get me one for our first anniversary back in April. Apparently they are absolutely impossible to find, oh, everywhere.
So, I pretty much hate you all. However, I also have a question, just in case I ever get one. The thing about using it to play classic NES games... that work? If so, how extensive is the library? If LL can't get her Bubble Bobble on, heads may roll.

If LL can't get her Bubble Bobble on, heads may roll. Bubble Bobble!!!! I'm totally going to go home and play that, now!!! Husband and I only have the original NES, but our game library is extensive. The day of college graduation I caught some kid throwing away a whole box of games, so I offered to take it off of his hands. It was a goldmine, I tell you!

Are they still really that hard to find? Wow. My Gamestop had half a dozen when I was there on Friday. As for the Virtual Console, there's no Bubble Bobble yet, but the whole thing works pretty much as advertised. There's a brief overview here and a list of available and upcoming titles here. What they've done -so I've read- is rate every title in the available libraries (NES, SNES, N64, SEGA Genesis, TurboGrafx-16, and Neo Geo) 'one' through 'five', 'one' being seminal stuff like Super Mario Brothers and Mega Man, 'five' being junk like Pinball and The Legend of Kage. Virtual Console games come out more or less weekly, and when there's going to be a month with a drought of new titles, more 'four' and 'five'-rated games will be out for the VC. Pretty snazzy overall, considering it also plays all the old GameCube games, too.

I do not have Wii. But I have friends who have Wii.
And we (I almost typed "Wii) enjoy the WarioWare Smooth Moves game because it only requires the attention span of a small dog. Or a goldfish.
