First looks are well underway at Gamespy and Gamespot! I'm totally psyched; along with Hellgate: London and Bioshock, this is one of the most important single-player RPGs to be coming out in the near (sorta) future. Things I like: * The cool Pip-Boy design * Return of the SPECIAL system * Fusing real time combat with pause mechanics for targeting * Innovative quest lines * The cool character creation process and your life in the vault Things I'm iffy about: * The smallness of the world (will it feel smaller than Fallout 2?) * No melee(?) * There's some sort of auto-leveling mechanic, a la Oblivion, but reportedly not as bad or frustrating. I think the franchise is in great hands with Bethesda... so we shall see!

I'm very excited about this, but I'm trying to remain calm about it. FO2 is one of my favorite games of all time, I can't count the number of times I've played through it. * There's some sort of auto-leveling mechanic, a la Oblivion, but reportedly not as bad or frustrating. I understand that can be disabled. I plan to custom build any character I make.

The only thing I am iffy about is the combat VATS system, I can't tell if it's going to be cool or not untill I see a gameplay video or something, besides that it all looks well and I'm inttrigued by the fact that you can canibalize different items to use their parts in order to repair items of the same type.
On a different note: Have any of you guys found the Master's nuclear bomb in FO1?

On a different note: Have any of you guys found the Master's nuclear bomb in FO1? You mean the nuclear generator in the basement of the cathedral? You must mean something else, I thought you had to toast that to beat the game. I haven't heard of the master's nuke. Looks like it's time for a replay! Edit: Well there's proof that I need to replay the original. I read a guide to the game and it said that that was just one possible way to take down the master. I guess I just always did it that way.

Well when you go down and click on it it says it's a Nuclear Bomb.
Anyway i think there are three ways of beating the Master, and they depend on the type of character you built:
the first one is to simply go into his chamber and kill him - if you made a fighter (which I did the first time)
then the second one is to find the nuclear bomb and set it off - you can do this only with a crazy lock-picking skill and a lot of science as well, so this ending would be right for a kind of thief or something (which I also did)
and there is a third way, a friend of mine told me he actually talked the Master into killing himself (I have not tested this one out)
