Beatles: Drive My Car (if you want to be obvious) or Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da (purely for my own sentimental reasons)
Not as mainstream, but
Pete Yorn: Life on a Chain or For Nancy (Cos it Already Is)
Lucinda Williams: Car Wheels on a Gravel Road (perfect title)
Tim Easton: Lexington Jail
Convoy: Wet Cement
maybe I'll think of more later
okay, it's later. here are some new suggestions
Flaming Lips: Do You Realize? (if you want to reenact some car commercial)
Ryan Adams: Chin Up, Cheer Up (my boyfriend got into a car accident while listening to the CD this is on, and once he got back into his car, this song was playing) or Firecracker
For Canadian Content laws: Tragically Hip - New Orleans is Sinking
I love the Hip, first saw them back in ~1994, when they opened up for Blues Traveler in a small theatre outside of Philly. rushed out and bought Day for Night, played it into the ground. After that, I picked up a bunch of their older albums. Made about a dozen driving tapes in the late 90's, every one had a Hip song on them.
Now that we're finally moved in to our new place, I gotta find my copy of Day for Night and put it back into heavy rotation. ;D
"I'm a simple man, Hobbes." "You?? Yesterday you wanted a nuclear powered car that could turn into a jet with laser-guided heat-seeking missiles!" "I'm a simple man with complex tastes."
That would be the original album cut, from Gordon.
Have you ever seen them live? I guarantee, they're one of the most fun acts you could ever, ever see.
And now I'm done threadjacking.
Lissa and I saw them on their last tour, had a blast at the concert. On the big screen, they kept on playing snippets of the Rock N Roll Jeopardy appearance, had a lot of fun with that.
But, I think the coolest part was when they pulled a guy up from the audience, let him play guitar during Pinch Me. Not sure if he was a plant, or just a talented fan, but it was cool nontheless
On a somewhat related note, I have a friend that hates BNL, simply because he thinks their name constitutes false advertising ;D
let the threadjacking continue... ;D

They're playing down here this week or something, too. But yeah, their live concert in State College for the Maroon tour was awesome. (Incidentally, Steve lost BIG TIME at that rock n roll Jepordy game. Fortunately, he seemed to think it was hysterical.)
Whenever we go on a long trip, it's almost guarenteed either Gordon or the greatest hits album will be played. That and South Park's soundtrack.
Two more good ones from my fencing days: American Pie (obvious but classic!)- Don McLean Like A Rolling Stone- Bob Dylan
"You're a genius!" "A genius with access to unstable chemicals!"
Duckie and Lissa are The Hip AND BNL fans? I may have to mail you your honourary membership in the Mounties!
Not sure if Lissa is really into the Hip (if she is, she's hidden it well from me!), but we do both love BNL. Canadian music rocks! I actually had a Canadian music fixation in the 80's... Probably the only person to own TWO Glass Tiger albums (although I probably shouldn't admit to that) ;D
And then there was the Rush cover band I tried to form in the late 80's... wanted to call the band "Red Sector A". Couldn't practice too much in the apartment, and we weren't that great, but it was fun to jam anyway
Ahhhh, the memories... ;D
