Just finished Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, which was probably one of the best books i've read in a while, and, in English class, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, which was the best book i've read in English class this year.
Gatsby believed in the green light. The green light. AAAAAAAAAARG! It's blinding me!!!!! I CAN'T SEE!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Hooray for Siddhartha! I've always loved that one, but I remember being the only kid in my honors english class who would admit that they enjoyed it. Philistines.
Right now, I'm reading Foucault's Pendulum verrrrrryyyyyyy sloooooooowwwwwwwllllllyyyyyyyy. Umberto Eco is a great writer and it's a fantastic novel so far, but my Lord what a dense book. I can't bring myself to read more than a chapter or two each day, there's just so much on each page I need a fews hours of downtime to process it all.

I just started Christine by Stephen King the other day. I haven't gotten very far because I stayed up all night before I decided to read it. Sleep deprivation and books don't mix for me.

Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination by Helen Fielding. The woman is genius, even though it was fluff reading...

Though I've read alot of the novels you are speaking of, I am wondering if anyone has as of yet read a new novel by T.M.Mason, War Of Storms, Souls Of Chaos?
I know that I for one was sick of books wrote for children, passed off as fantasy, but Mason has brought a whole new style into the genre. The man actually writes for adults,... not porn, but good, viscious wholesome, descriptive violence and brutallity, swordplay and magecraft. I know I'm new here, and was looking around for anything on more works by T.M.Mason, that is how I found your board to begin with. I Was hoping someone here had read something other than 'Souls Of Chaos'. I cannot wait till the next volume. thanx K

Angels & Demons by Dan Brown... I'm having a ball pointing out the parallels between it and The Da Vinci Code. Important man murdered? Check. Feisty young female relative of murdered man? Check. Secret society? Check. Plans to take over the world? *hums Pinky and the Brain theme* Check it all off. Too much fun, I tell you.
Also re-reading both Les Miserables and The Princess Bride.

Still Life with Crows by Preston and Child Landatauron, I just finished this one (finally came out on paperback). I agree with your comments elsewhere - good, but not their best. But, Pendergast was cool in this, as always. Now I just gotta wait for some of their other recent, individual works to come out on paperback, as well.

At the moment I'm reading as much Lester Bangs as I can get my hands on. I still don't understand how it's possible not to love a man who gave his articles such bizarre titles as "James Taylor Marked For Death," "Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung," and "I Saw God and/or Tangerine Dream" (the latter admittedly drug-inspired).

Sadly, I haven't read any Lester Bangs stuff. I'm having to read East of Eden right now because if I don't, my Honors English 11 teacher will go postal and probably detonate the entire English hall. She's kind of psycho like that.
I hate summer reading.
Other than that, I'm re-reading The Lovely Bones and am waiting for The Supernaturalist by Eoin Colfer to get to our public library.

So far this summer, between my workload and other summertime obligations, I've read:
Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath White Oleander - Janet Finch She's Come Undone - Wally Lamb
And now, a friend of mine dropped off all the Harry Potter books and insists I read them. I decided I have to read the books before I see the movies.

I just finished Summer Sisters by Judy Blume and am pondering what to read next... I Me Mine by George Harrison or Fast Food Nation.
