Star Trek: The Next Generation This shouldn't count, as Jerry Goldsmith wrote it for the first Star Trek movie.

Huh? Why not? It was a theme, used for a TV show. That's about all them there qualifications you need.

But it wasn't written for the TV show. It's like saying that Handel's "Water Music" (it was used as the them to the Frugal Gourmet), Rossini's "William Tell Overture" (used for the Lone Ranger), or Joe Cocker's cover of "With a Little Help From My Friends" (Wonder Years) count. I think if you're talking about TV themes, it should be themes written for TV shows, not appropriated from the score from the first movie based off of the series that the show is a spin-off of.*
Yes, I purposely wrote that last sentence that way. Preposition mania!
*Of course, I'm the type of nitpicker that throws a fit when people think of pop songs instead of the score as the "soundtrack" to a film.

Well, let me think...
The A-Team (do do do do...do do do) Space Ghost Coast to Coast (if it counts) Mighty Mouse (HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY!!!) Spiderman (either the really old one or the 90's one, doesn't matter) Muppet Show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (old early 90's one of course)

Darth, you hit my big two- A Team and Muppets.
M*A*S*H (even though I never watched it regularly- it gets stuck in your head)
Animaniacs! (And specifically Pinky and the Brain)
Ummm... y'know, I don't watch much TV, and never did.
But for most annoying, I certainly nominate the Smurfs! La la lalalala, La la la la la....

Side note to my own post: Nominee for best song IN a TV show would be the one Brain wrote when he tried to take over the world via country music:
I am a lab mouse, I escaped from my cage Never held a job, Never made minimum wage But you will respect me- YES!- when my plans are unfurled You will call me your leader I'll be king of the world...

Yea, the Greatest American Hero had an awesome theme song I'd add these as well: - Sopranos - Miami Vice - Airwolf - Incredible Hulk - WKRP in Cincinnati - Love Boat - Banana Splits - Moonlighting (yea, I was a sucker for the show!)

I'm gonna add Angel to this list, because I really like it, to the point that I even bought Darling Violetta's album.
It sucked. But the theme from Angel is cool.

Chris Elliot's old FOX sitcom Get A Life! used REM's Stand for the opening credits...that was golden.
Monty Python's Flying Circus has a great opening theme, and I've always liked the They Might Be Giants song that opens Malcolm in the Middle. Just 'cause it always sounded appropriate, ya know.
I've always liked the techo thumping music that plays whenever Sydney's about to kickass in Alias. Admittedly, I do have a somewhat unhealthy fixation with Jennifer Garner which may have prejudiced my opinion. Oh, and she's coming out with a movie, like a switching bodies comedy called 13 Going On 30. I'll go see it, however the aforementioned unhealthy fixation with Jennifer Garner is prejudicing that decision, also.

How about the theme to The Gary Shandling Show? Back when it was airing (I was in 3rd grade or so), sometimes I would sing it walking to and from school. I was an odd child.

I was an odd child. haha, Me and my Mom used to sing the song together. Not just when we were watching the show either. In the car, grocery store, standing in line at the bank. Everywhere. My vote for best theme would be from The Wonder Years. I don't care if it's a cover of someone else's song. When I hear it I don't think of the singer. I think of the show.
