normally, i try to avoid buying hardcover books. i can either check them out of the library or read them at barnes/borders for free, and then i don't have to deal with heavy hard cover book nonsense. it's a weird quirk of mine, yes. but i hate hard cover books! paperbacks are the way to go! much more portable.
having said that, i doubt i can resist phil jackson's new book, the last season. it's the story of the lakers dynasty's last big year together, and it's full of the madness that kept me entertained most nights on television and every morning in the los angeles times for 2003-04. plus, it's phil jackson: the greatest nba coach ever! wowsers! i read his first two books at the library and then bought them in paperback, but i simply can not wait for this one. argh! back pain, here i come!
oh, i forgot to mention: what has me so excited is si.com has some excerpts posted from the book, and i'm super-pumped up! it's all they've been talking about on espnradio and la sports talk all day today, so everyone is going CRAZY. woo hoo!

Was that before or after they got their Californian butts handed to them on a basketball platter by the Pistons?
