ah, "vertigo" is so good. if it weren't supposed to be the coldest night of the year in socal (i spent today playing in SNOW out here. crazy!), i'd hit the 24-hour walmart at midnight for new u2 album. as it is, i have to decide by tomorrow morning if i want the normal album or the deluxe version or the super deluxe version. bono! meanwhile, can anyone explain to me why lots of people don't like the bono? i must understand!

I hate Bono because:
a-he seems like a pompous a** b-he wears friggin sunglasses all the time. C'mon dude--you don't need to wear them at night! I'm sure he wears them because of (a) c-he goes by one name (I think "The Edge" is a bit silly, too).
I like some of U2's older stuff and will admit that "Vertigo" is pretty catchy (thank you iPod commercials).
But dude, stay away from the Wal-Mart. Go buy your music at a real record store!

I do not understand why people do not like The Bono. I for one have a special fondness for His Excellence in my heart.
Sorry, caffeine rush there.
"Vertigo" is indeed very very good, I like very much. And it's a CD I want that I can actually buy without my parental units caring. Joy.

sounds good. i ended up buying the album this morning at, um, target. is that okay? actually, it doesn't matter because the closest music store that i'm willing to help out is out in ontario (30 minutes away) and my favorite music store is about 40 minutes away in claremont (and i just helped them out by buying the new william shatner and jimmy eat world there). am i lazy? yes. but i'm saving money! thanks, target! bono rules!

Ontario is thirty minutes from you? Either you:
A) have an exceptionally bad grasp of geography B) have access to the Batmobile, the one with the big rocket on the back C) have moved to Justin's apartment
I demand clarification!

Didn't you hear? We annexed it. And relocated it, because it was a little on the chilly side. Love U2. Since... man... was it 1983? Good times... yes indeed. *cackles and retreats to rocking chair* Sue

Is there some sort of protective dome over Ontario? It's still kinda cold in here.
Let in the heat, people!

I heard that there is a new iPod being marketed that comes with all of the songs that U2 has recorded... can anyone validate this? I've been researching iPods for a while now and haven't seen anything along these lines, but if there really is a U2 iPod out there, I'm all over it!

You don't get the songs. What you do get is a $50 coupon to buy almost all of U2s albums on iTunes. I hear it's not their full catalog--perhaps there were some limited release albums in their early days? I think the price is $400+ (the U2 catalog, that is). See here: www.apple.com/ipod/u2/

I checked out that link and was reading up on the "special" iPod and, to me, it seems like a bit of a waste. I mean, it's the iPod with 20 gigs of space that goes for $300 but they're selling it for $350... with the bonus "gift" of a $50 credit towards that U2 collection. Unless I'm missing something, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but all they're really doing is charging you an extra $50 to buy the iPod in the first place, and taking that money and turning it into the "gift" that they're giving you. So, I could just buy the standard iPod and download all the U2 songs. Huh.

Or you could view it as paying an extra $50 to get a non-white iPod with copies of the signatures of all the members of U2 etched on the back.

Or you could take a bottle of Testors model paint and a soldering iron and customize your iPod yourself.
Go ahead.
I dare you.

I love The Bono deeply! He may come across as being egotistical, but he freely admits this... and it's part of his public persona. If you'd been at the top for about 25 years, and your new album had hit number 1 in 34 countries, you'd be liking life a bit too.
He's a decent and kindhearted man.
