Given Justin's marriage and the fact that I usually think random thoughts before falling asleep at night, I was just wondering what everybody's favourite lone song(s) is/are.
It's a tough choice for me. Love songs don't tend to pull on my heartstrings like their meant to. The only one that really spoke to me was How Ya Gonna See Me Now? by Alice Cooper. Not only does the song rock, but the story behind it makes is doubly better. The song is based on a letter he wrote to his estranged wife as he was recovering from alcoholism, scared she wouldn't take him back. Not only did they reconcile, but they are still married. There's just something about that story that I love.
So enough about me rambling about something you guys probably don't care about. I'll turn it over to you guys now to answer this question.

I'll go with the obvious choice and say Tesla's Love Song. I mean, the title says it all. It sure does help that it's also a pretty radical song. That I can play on guitar. Ladies!
Our wedding song was Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. It's kind of a unusual choice, but the story behind it goes back to when I first started dating my wife and was working part-time at a rock station. Our first Valentines Day (we had only been dating for a month or two) I was on the air during the afternoon and I played that song and dedicated it to her. We went out that night, and I gave her some flowers and took her out to dinner. She gave me the first Austin Powers on vhs for that Valentines day. And from that moment on, I knew she was the one I would spend the rest of my life with.

There are a lot of love songs that I would consider favorites of mine... In Your Eyes, God Only Knows, She's Got A Way. For that matter, there's a lot of songs devoted to breakups and failed relationships that I still consider romantic- Let Me In, Pictures Of You, etc. But there's one dark horse choice that always reminds me of the relationship I have with my current girlfriend- Colorful by the Verve Pipe. (From the "Rock Star" soundtrack, to get that movie connection in there.)
See, by nature, I'm very... hmm, prone to change moods quickly, let's (charitably) say. The girlfriend is just as much so, if not more. So with the two of us together, there's plenty of sparks flying and disagreements on a pretty regular basis. I feel like this song really sums up that willingness to accept the changing moods of your lover and take the good with the bad, no matter what.
The show is over, close the story book There will be no encore And all the random hands that I have shook Well they're reaching for the door I watch their backs as they leave single file But you stood stubborn, cheering all the while
I know I can be colorful I know I can be gray But I know this loser's living fortunate Cause I know you will love me either way
Most were being good for goodness sake But you wouldn't pantomime You are more beautiful when you awake Than most are in a lifetime Through the haze that is my memory, well You stayed for drama though you paid for a comedy
I know I can be colorful I know I can be gray But I know this loser's living fortunate Cause I know you will love me either way
Look ahead as far as you can see We'll live in drama but we'll die in a comedy
I know I can be colorful I know I can be gray But I know this loser's living fortunate Cause I know you will love me either way...

I think my favorite loved song is Have I Told You Lately, by Van Morrison. I'm glad I put it on an early mix CD for Lissa... it ended being our wedding song. A close second is Used to Love Her, by Guns N Roses

"God Only Knows" is a good one,and I'm a sap for stuff like "She's Got A Way," "Shameless," and "Just The Way You Are" (all Billy Joel), and "Unchained Melody" (The Righteous Brothers). Also, never underestimate the power of "Some Kind of Wonderful" by Grand Funk Railroad. Perhaps my favorite love song, though, is "A Better Place To Be" by Harry Chapin. It's haunting, sad, beautiful, and one of the few songs that can make me cry. The argument can be made, of course, that it's not quite a love song in the same vein as "songs you turn on when your car 'runs out of gas' on a deserted road at the end of a date," but it tops my list nonetheless.
