Okay rundown of all of the, what I feel like are pertinent Marvel Universe movies. I guess... Not sure what else to call them, so anyway here goes. Since I like making lists. By the way these are like, the DVD release dates (besides fantastic 4). My question is, sequals aside, based on the comic book side of things, are all of these supposed to be happening at the same time? Discuss and stuff? Blade 1 '98 X-Men 1 '00 Spider-Man '02 Blade 2 '02 Hulk '03 X-Men 2 '03 Daredevil '03 Punisher '04 Spider-Man 2 '04 Blade 3 '04 Elektra '05 Fantastic 4 '05

Spider hyphen Man, my friend. Spider hyphen Man. Anyway, they aren't technically all in the same universe for the simplest reason imaginable- the rights are owned by different film companies. Word is that in an early script for the first X-Men movie, there was a scene where they land the Blackbird and head out; in a nearby alleyway, Blade dispatches a vampire, watches the X-Men leave, shakes his head, and mutters "mutants." However, it was obviously left out of the final film. And until two are owned by the same company -- and the director desires it -- I wouldn't count on any guest stars more pronounced than the Doctor Strange joke in Spider-Man 2. -D

Do you know how many hyphen times I've had to hyphen Spider-Man for the staff writing about it? Too, too many. Also, X-Men.

There is an out take of Spider-Man in X-Men 1. And there has been enough crossovers in the comics to establish that it really all is in the same universe you guys so But also, MOVIE WISE yea there is basically zero connection between them, theoretically X-Men, Spider-Man, Blade should all have a connection, and well, Daredevil and Elektra do connect. Just movie wise, but ya know, comic wise they all intersect. Right? I really do not have time to look it up right now cuz there's no good site that makes the connections like I'd want too. But comic wise they definately all do connect. Just not movie rights and monetary rights and all those other.... they want their movie checks Jay and Silent Bob! On a slightly different angle, they don't all really live in the same city either... but in the cartoons it sure acts like they do. Any idea where they're all supposed to live? They always go visit other places, but its like, Metropolis or something, sheesh.

But as for the city, yes, most Marvel heroes live in New York City. It was one of Stan Lee's ideas back in the early 60s- while the DC heroes all lived in fictional cities like Metropolis and Gotham City, the Marvel heroes lived in New York, which meant readers could see real landmarks and better identify with the heroes. -D

Hmmmm. I guess this topic is dwindling. I can't think of anything more.
Was there any heros that specificicly did NOT live in NYC. Besides Alpha Flight? And like... Lady Deathstryke? And Omega Red? A few like Banshee lived on Muir? Or something? :/ I can't remember.

Well... yes, a lot of them. For teams you've got The West Coast Avengers. The Defenders. The Winter Guard. Big Hero 6. The Champions. The Squadron Supreme. Force Works. Runaways. Et cetera. For individual heroes... God, way, way too many to mention. Even leaving aside the superpeople, Werewolf By Night lived in LA, as did Ghost Rider for a while, and Dracula was based in Boston for half of his book. The Man-Thing was based in the Nexus of all Realities, and Howard the Duck spent a lot of time in Cleveland. -D

It's really too bad that there won't be film crossovers, given how much fun these are in the comics. I love the reasons they come up with for them to fight. "You're a costumed vigilante and I must stop you! Hold on while I get into...my costume!"

I love the reasons they come up with for them to fight. "You're a costumed vigilante and I must stop you! Hold on while I get into...my costume!" Yeah, those are always cool. The best part is when they're aware of what a cliche it is... I remember this issue of Agent X where his narration basically read, "People often wonder why, when two superpowered individuals meet, they invariably end up fighting. The simple truth is that- it's fun. And if you had superpowers, you would too."Of course, inter-company crossovers are even better. When Batman watched the Punisher start shooting a group of criminals, then you got just one panel of his stony-faced reaction -- followed by beating the ever-loving crap out of him -- man, that was great. -D
