Do you ever get in a phase with a certain band where all you want to do, all day, every day, is listen to them, read about them, see them, hang out with them, and if someone says "(Band name) is not really the meaning of life, ya know", you don't talk to them for a couple of weeks?
Yeah. I am so there.
They Might Be Giants are so good. Seriously. If you don't know them well, look them up. If you don't like them, listen to them until you do. It will work.
I love being in this zone. It gives you something to be wiiiicked passionate about for a while. Also I'm burning a lot of CDs and I also have insomnia, but I don't really know what to do on the internet. I've been compulsively checking my myspace and reading interviews and I don't know what else to do but talk to the people on the site that makes having a computer cool.
I forgot for a second that I write here and I'm not just a normal fan, so in a way I just complemented myself.
But I'm also so proud to be me.
Anyway. I'm in the zone!

I have a compilation of They Might Be Giants songs that someone chopped out of their podcast and made into an album. It's very good.

I'm in a Decemberists phase right now. Colin Meloy can do no wrong in my eyes.

I went through a big Beatles phase my last two years of high school and into my freshman year of college. I got fed up with listening to the radio and started listening to my CDs instead. As a result, I have almost no idea what the big and popular songs were from mid-1996 to early 1999. I was given 2 copies of the Beatles Anthology book for Christmas of 2000, but by then I was listening to other music.

I understand a lot of people have quit listening to the radio since the Clear Channel takeover homogenized everything. I used to listen to Oldies a lot, until they started playing Gary Puckett and the Union Gap WAAAYYY too often. They're from near where I live, but that doesn't change the fact that they sucked.
Now I mostly listen to Modest Mouse, Nickelback, and Gregorian Chants and opera on my computer.

I'm going through a Meat Loaf phase. It's a bit embarassing, actually.

if going through occasional meatloaf phases is wrong, i don't want to be right.
"paradise by the dashboard light" + that particular scene in 'josie & the pussycats' = fantastic!

Not a big Arctic Monkeys fan (even if they do originate from the next city over and by that, I mean like 13 miles ). Though I do admit that the intro to "I bet you look good on the dancefloor" is excellent. Also: Pulp, the Human League and Joe Cocker also originate from Arctic Monkeys terrority (Sheffield). Kaiser Chiefs originate from Leeds, which is about 40 miles from where I live. Then there is the whole "Madchester Scene" (Oasis, Primal Scream, Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses) whom are from Manchester, which is about 50 miles from where I live. Liverpool (Beatles country) is a way further but still only a couple of hours away. Go Northern Music!

In less than a week, I'm going to a Poison concert. The opening act for the night is hair-metal band Cinderella, and last week I realized I only knew one of their songs. So I downloaded as many of their songs as I could (which totaled about 10 or 11), and have been rocking out to them since. I'll probably buy one of their CDs, when I can afford it.
