Bringing this over from the movie board, does anyone here have any musicl guilty pleasures or favorite artists that are a bit out of character for you?
For example, people are always shocked to hear that I genuinely appreciate ABBA, Tom Jones, Run DMC, Avril Lavigne, Bon Jovi, and Frank Sinatra. Not that any of these should be guilty pleasures, because they are AWESOME! But I'm more known for my love of classic rock, especially as an obsessed Zeppelin enthusiast on par with Jay Baruchel's character from Almost Famous. So, needless to say, people don't expect me to like pop music at all.
Anyone else have any "guilty pleasures" when it comes to music?

I don't listen to "Stars Are Blind" sometimes, nuh-uh.
There's this Canadian boy band called soulDecision I LOVED when I was 14 or so - they were my first concert. I still love to sing along to their songs. It's like Avril for me though; I listen to them less for the music than the good memories associated.

every band already mentioned counts as one of my guilty pleasures, as well.
except for the canadian boy band.
also: apparently according to "society," huey lewis & the news counts as a "guilty pleasure."
i personally count them simply as "AWESOME" but sometimes you have to bow to convention.
in addition: the jazz butcher, the jam, AVRIL (worth mentioning again), and obscure japanese pop band banana erectors based almost solely on their rockin' cover of 'henry the 8th i am.'
fantastic!

The Gin Blossoms, oh the shame! I think it's a bit of associated memories though more than the music since I only break out my 'Best of' CD about once a year. I get halfway through the album and think "All the songs sound the same and they're kinda blah." finish the album (because that doesn't stop me), put it away, and then get an annual craving. Rinse. Repeat.
Otherwise I don't listen to too much music that I actually feel guilty about.

Oh, I forgot Nickelback. Their more recent stuff. Same excuse as Avril: good memories associated, especially "Photograph" and "Rockstar".

I have eclectic taste in music. I'll listen to Frank Sinatra and big band leaders like Tommy Dorsey and Vaughn Monroe one day, Led Zepplin and The Who the next, Matchbox 10 the day after that, then John Meyer and Sheryl Crow, and perhaps some classic Broadway cast albums and old movie soundtracks in the morning. Maybe in the afternoon, I'll go on an 80s kick and give my Huey Lewis and Cyndi Lauper albums (yes, the big black disc things) a spin. Other people may think I'm a dork, but hey, this is what I like. I just follow my moods.

I like the song Idiot Boyfriend by Jimmy Fallon. "You like fine cookin'? I got a Swansons dinner...in the freezer.......wit your name on it ah!" Lol.

"I'm kinda faded but I feel alright, thinkin' 'bout makin' my move tonight" I love that song. I think I have it on my MP3 player, haha.

Enjoy the silence by Depeche mode. The 80's were a screwy decade.

My guilty pleasure is Gwen Stefani. There is no musical merit to anything she has released since she went solo. And I still listen to it incessantly.
(even "Wind it Up")

For me...
it has to be any Weird Al Yankovic polka mixes. I'm not a fan of polka, but hearing Nirvana, Nine inch nails, pearl jam and smashing pumpkin Polkas in the same song... EACH with a different polka style/beat.... H.I. larious

I'm ashamed to admit my love for novelty songs, and how many have found their way onto my iPod. Like that song "David Duchovny" by Bree Sharp. Never mind that I'm the wrong gender/sexual orientation -- whether I'm alone in my car or in a funeral procession, I will sing "David Duchovny, I know you could love me, I'm sweet and I'm cuddly, I'M GONNA KILL SCULLY!!!" at the top of my lungs.
It's my (no longer) secret shame.
