I haven't read his books, but I know many people have, and I've heard very good things about him as a person. Sad to say, Robert Jordan has passed away.
Not a good month for fantasy here.

For those of us that have spent the last 17 years with his writing there is good news. He was worried that he might pass away on this current visit to the hospital so he passed on his notes on how to finish out his final book in the Wheel of Time. It is now in the hands of his wife and his publisher. My thoughts are with his family. The passing of a loved one can be hard. All the best.

I haven't read any of his books myself, but I had the pleasure of meeting him when I was the fan judge at the 2001 Archon Masquerade. A towering man with a booming voice, but with a genuine good humor.
He'll be missed.

Oh man, my sister will be sooo upset! She has most of his books and has read all of the Wheels of Time books. I haven't read them, but she's collected them for years.
