I picked up the first book of this series on a total whim (I had thought they looked stupid but I guess I was starved for new books) and I fell in love with the series completely. I love the fact that Mia is not at all a perfect teen and is actually very flawed (sometimes I just want to smack her, or smack her for NOT smacking Lilly) and that she DOESN'T want to be a princess. And I'm now upset at the makers of the Princess Diaries movie being so unfaithful to the book
Anyways, I just finished reading the 9th b ook and just now found out that there will only be 10 and that the next one is the last one. So I just wanted to discuss for a bit how much I love these books and be sad that they will end all too soon (for me at least, I only just got into them over the summer).

I <3 Meg Cabot. She's funny and smart and knows weird stuff about all sorts of things. If you like Princess Diaries, I'd recommend her All-American Girl books - I'm pretty sure there's only two of those.
I haven't read Princess Diaries for ages now, which is rather sad because I love the books so much. The first is falling apart and is a legitimized bath book, having been dropped into the water at least twice. I saw the movie first, which - well, it had Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews. That's enough, right? (sigh) I did like that they made Michael look like a real boy. He's not another Zac Efron type.
Now I want to go to the library and get all the books - I lost track and stopped reading around book 6 or 7.

I liked the girl, because she was liked having a foot massage. I have a fetish for that and hope that if I ever get a girlfriend she will be as grateful to receive such massages.

I'm dying to get the paperback copy of book 8. I didn't realize 9 was out already! (Paperback is essential, since I read them in the bath, too.)
One of these days, I must review Princess Diaries, because the departures from the book are completely laughable. (I do admire the way Meg Cabot's handled the discussion of the movies in the books, though!) I agree- Mia and her friends are very real... and I'm ready to smack Lilly, too. Seriously, why is she still friends with her?

There are HOW many books now? Jeez, way to go me for snubbing the YA section of the bookstores. I love those books so much.
I think I stopped reading at... 4? Yes, 4. I feel so behind now.
