I was going to make this a thread about the 6th AMA in general, but I'm primarily concerned about one aspect thereof:
Pooly, you have to promise me that, from now on, whenever you write about something along the lines of the Lust Death, you'll put a "Tormenting Mental Images" warning at the top of the page. Good grief. I was squirming for the whole rest of the day.
However, you have graciously prevented me from ever actually seeing Se7en, and for that I thank you.

You think YOU had the willies? I haven't seen Se7en in years, and because the Lust murder is so vaguely illustrated, I had forgotten all about it. So Justin gives me the list of results to write up for the category, and number one is "skewered in sex". I had only the dimmest recollection of what that meant. I didn't have time to watch the movie again, so I found a script, and searched for "Lust".
So I get to READ a more in depth description than the image I had already blotted out. Yeeha! But at least I was probably correct, I could have guessed your leg position of thousands of miles away!
As for never seeing Se7en, it's a brutal movie, but it's a GOOD one, if you can stomach it. I wouldn't tune it out just because it's so dark and violent. Just thought I'd mention that.

Now you know why I nominated it. As a woman I remember having a very visceral reaction to that whole scene and it definitely stuck with me. Especially Leland Orser's performance as the man who's forced to kill her that way. I'm glad it won. I'd say it deserved to.

And really, they never show it. Even the photograph of the weapon is shown very quickly to leave a nasty what-was-that impression. But sometimes alluding to something is worse than seeing it fully on screen.

But sometimes alluding to something is worse than seeing it fully on screen. I think that's just about ALWAYS the case.

I wouldn't tune it out just because it's so dark and violent. Oh, but I most certainly would. Sorry, but that's just the sort of wimp I am. The darkest, most violent movie I own is Rainbow Brite in Starry Cupcake Land.
