Revenge of the Sith Reviews

I would have to say it was a pleasent suprise to wake up and find not one, but 5 nice long reviews waiting for me, all for one of the most (in)famous films of the year. I just have a couple things to say about the reviews then I'm on my way.

Westley's mini review:

Watch it: YES! Twice!
Rent it: Yes once to see if he has any deleted scenes/special features/apologies to the fans.
Buy it: Eh, not so much.

Drew: Perhaps the Jedi went down so fast because a Sith Master has the ability to cloud the Force Sense and/or other physical senses of weaker Jedi. Perhaps Mace is the only one who he could not weaken in that way. Or perhaps simply Deus Ex Machina.

Justin: I agree, Lucas simply cannot write romance to save his life. Harrison SAVED Empire by changing that infamous line, because the response Lucas had dreamed up was so overplayed that it was a cliche before it was conceived. Which just goes to show that Lucas was at his best when he was trumped by others that knew where some tweaks needed to be made.

Kyle: I never noticed that the acronym for Sith was ROTS muahaha it seems oddly appropriate, doesn't it? BTW I am now on my way to Taco Bell to try out Baja Blast.

Poolman: Once again, your opinion is the closest to my own. Bravo. I'll ignore 'colours' this time and make no mention of it. Oops ;D

Lissa: Maxx references YES! *holds a protest sign* Bring Back The Maxx! Bring Back The Maxx! Magical Lampshades and Black Izzes for everyone!

Final Notes: Ian McDiarmid IS Angra Mainyu (look it up), Ewan McGregor IS Alec Guiness, and George Lucas IS officially out of his gourd. And to agreee with Lissa, Order 66 is in my opinion the most dramatic and best sequence in ALL of Star Wars, played out perfectly well.

Another trivia tidbit--Bruce Spence gets his fourth role in the third movie of a trilogy (he was the alien who said "we're being watched" in ROTS, he was the Mouth of Sauron in LotR, he was the stationkeeper in Matrix: Revolutions, and he was the pilot in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome).

i'm just happy that i didn't really want the star wars original trilogy dvds, then thought maybe i did, then decided i really didn't. because my wherehouse music (one of the few left) offered a slick rebate offer where i got the widescreen set for $29. awesome! star wars!

here's something i neglected to mention in my ROTS review, and i can't remember if anyone else did: the ROTS novelization is actually scary good. i haven't read it all: i skimmed through before the movie, decided to check it out again for real, and have been reading it faithfully at bookstores and department stores, slowly but surely.

and it's good. lots of good characterizations, back/unseen story, and stuff about greivous and dooku (i'm only up to the "rescue palpatine" part) that makes the character interesing. even anakin seems interesting. imagine that!

Now that I think about it some more, I am starting to develop a theory that Dath Sidious is actually much older/more powerful than we are led to believe. I'm wondering if that 'aging' that happened as he was fighting Windu was really aging at all, maybe he actually was always really old and he was using the Force to mask his appearance. If so, he could possibly be well over 100 years old and wield way more powers than we think. I think that could explain so many things in the series. Any thoughts?

I'd have to agree with BladeStarr. It makes sense that the grotesque change in that scene is simply the revelation of Palpatine's true form, and much older than you would have thought before.
Question, is Darth Sidious the apprentice of the wise Sith Lord in the story he tells to Anakin? Wouldn't that clear things up a little bit?

I thought it was pretty obvious that that was the case. I think Palpatine has been orchestrating this entire thing from the birth of Anakin onward. He might have been one of the few remaining Sith that survived the Jedi's routing of all the Sith Lords I think it was 70 years before the prequels. Star Wars fans can set me right on the time frame of that event, I'm just guessing but I know it happened.

I believe the novel specifically stated that Sidious was the apprentice. Yup.

Oh, and for anyone interested, the saber-whirling teenager who went down swinging at the temple was a padawan named Whie. He'd been through two masters (both killed) and was one of apparently several 'orphaned' padawans living at the temple because there were too few Jedi Knights left to take apprentices.
