oogieboogie, ever seen Much Ado About Nothing? What I want to know is: What kind of hypnotizing was our Mr. Reeves into that convinced someone in '92/3 that he was, like, totally down with the English accenteth, fortheth?

No I haven't seen Much Ado, but yeah, the casting choice was a tad confusing. No matter what Mr. Reeves does, he just can't seem to escape the "dude" persona.
In Dracula: "Duuuuude, I'm English!", in Something's Gotta Give: "Duuuude, I'm a doctor!", in the Matrix: "Duuuuude, I know all this stuff about, like, kung fu and computers!, and in Parenthood: "Duuuuuude, I'm a dude! I'm home!"

In Little Buddha "Dude, I'm Siddartha. Now I'm enlightened. Dude, I'm Buddha!"

At least in Much Ado, Keanu was given the role of "evil prince who's mostly off-stage".
I'm so ashamed he's Canadian...
Hey, how about Canoe Reeves?

Yeah, but for the time he's on screen - he's greased up, and hammy, and that accent verges on being creepy (and not in an intentional he's a villian way, the accent is just that bad).
Everytime I think of it, it reminds me of that preview from The Critic, "Do we not bleed? Do we not get bummed?"

I'm actually pretty sure that The Critic made that joke specifically in reference to Much Ado About Nothing (which, for the record, I absolutely loved, Keanu and all). There aren't nearly enough movies that explode with that kind of happiness.
Oh, and on a semi-related note, Kenneth Branaugh's Hamlet is rumored to finally be coming to DVD this fall.

Man, I guess my e-mail is not working right, or maybe it censors out my physical address when I send the info for prizes.
