I'm in the southeastern part of the U.S... and when a hurricane breathes our way, we freak out and buy all the bread at the store. And plywood. And duct tape. Lots of duct tape.
And we have a penchant for arguing the finer points of barbecue.

And duct tape. Lots of duct tape. Helps against terror attacks, too!

Yes. Hurricanes are just another form of a terror attack sent by Osama.

I lived in Fiji until I was about 13, then moved to Brisbane Australia. Fiji is a completely different world all together, but I'll try to think up some interesting quirks. - Diwali (Indian festival) is a good excuse to let off illegal fireworks. There were plenty of urban legends about kids getting their eyes blown up by firecrackers. Cool! Are you a native fijian? And diwali is fun. There's alot of indians here, so we still celebrate it. Its proximity to Halloween makes firecrackers easy to obtain.

I live in the beautiful city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. And for those of you who do know where Nova Scotia is, look on the east coast of Canada. It's the one shaped like a lobster's claw. There are certainly quite a few quirks about my province, and even more interesting history, the most notable items being: Nova Scotia is beautiful. What high school did you go to?

No I'm British/Australian, but my two best friends are Fijian. Diwali is fun, but I heard they put a ban on fireworks soon after I left, because a kid was beheaded by a firecracker or something bizarre like that. I think someone's pulling my leg.

What high school did you go to? I went to St. Patrick's High School, pretty much across the street from Queen Elizabeth High School. Should I take it that you're familiar with my neck of the woods?

I wouldn't say familiar but I have a few friends there (some of which have moved to vancouver now). But they went Cole Harbour, know that one? What I remember most is that, err, on signs on the street, and for stores etc, they were often spelled wrong, which only really made the place more endearing, haha.

In recent years, Cole Harbour High has become known for its violence and every once in while, crime. Not everyone who goes to the school is like that. In fact, most of them are pretty good people, but there's also a few bad eggs who start lots of (expletive deleted).

I have to emulate Drew in this one and rip off a list I've recieved entitled "You know you live in Connecticut when", since everything on it is eerily accurate.
You never went to a bar in high school. You thought no one could buy beer after 8 PM. You think New Jersey is a toxic waste dump. You have deer in your backyard. (vela: an wild turkeys. and your golden retreiver and/or lab) Your family owns more than one house. You still don't understand why people say that Connecticut is the richest state. (vela: is it?) The diner is the only place open after midnight. You have at least 10 friends who drive Jeeps. (vela: and another 5 that drive VW Jettas) You root for all the New York sports teams. You've never looked at a public bus schedule. You would also never get on one. You think Bridgeport is the worst ghetto you've ever seen. (vela: or New Haven) You spend the summer on Cape Cod, in Nantucket or Marthas Vineyard. When you go to a real city, you sincerely feel bad for the poor/homeless people. The cars in your high school's parking lot were worth more than your high school. You never really went on a "real date" in high school. You know what Okemo is (and you or a friend owns a house there). Your high school sent more than 10 kids to Boston College. You get pissed at anyone that doesnt know how to drive in the snow. You consider Fairfield County and the rest of Connecticut two different states. You often prefer Patagonia to North Face, but own both Upon entering New Haven you lock the car doors You have known at least 2 preppy rich kids from Fairfield who listen to Phish (vela: and then went to school with all of them at UConn) You have at least one friend with a pickup (vela: and they use it to go "off-roading", and don't wash the mud off for weeks) You own real Oakley's (vela: but know where to get good knock-offs in NYC for $10-$15) You have said, "I'm in a good location...Between both Boston and New York." Your family owns more cars than legal drivers You carry your keys on a carabineer, but you don't know how to rock climb. You own every DMB CD You plan your schedule around UCONN basketball games You have at least one friend whose house was built in the 1800’s (vela: and you'll bottom out your Jetta driving down the dirt road to get there)
You have a deep and unabiding hatred for any drivers from Massachusettes, New Jersey and especially New York. You've been to Europe at least once and assume everyone else has, too. You have at least two friends who went to a $40,000 a year school, then transferred back either to UConn, Western or Central. ;D
I was just in Colorado for ten days. I can definitively say that a) the weather out there is much better than the northeast and b) the people out there are 10 times nicer. Someday when I graduate (ha!) I'd totally move out there.

You know what Okemo is (and you or a friend owns a house there). Okemo rocks the house. Waaaaaay better than Killington (though I DID take on Outer Limits one time, and lived to tell the tale). -D

After spending a week out in sacramento, I've learned that this place is a strange blending of Indiana (flat, farms, suburbia) and Las Vegas (desert weather, dryer, mountains in the distance). Funky monkey.
