...you are sooooooooo dead. Not for the article, which was extremely funny. And not for the pictures. But for not making it plain to the world that our tardiness was entirely Lady Luck's fault for neglecting her duties as navigator and causing us to miss our exit. I believe "Whoops... was that just exit [whatever]... heh heh... um, honey...?" was the exact phrasing. In terms of Drew-time, we were early, doggone it! Anyway, putting that aside, great article, Sue! The pictures came out nicely (am I really that fat?), and I was riveted by hearing the parts I didn't know... bummer about SoM's little car accident, and hope your car has recovered by now. (Next time- "If you're gonna spew, spew into this!") I enjoyed it so much, I'm almost tempted to express mail a scrumptious, gooey, genuine 100% Philly cheesesteak out to the middle of nowheresville for you! Almost. But then I remember the lateness crack and I just don't think I have the time. Guess I'll just have to eat it myself. -D

A Drew is never late, nor is he early; he arrives precisely when he means to.
My sympathies about the queasy spawn, Sue. I come from a long line of motion-sick people myself--my grandmom likes to say she drove past Mount Vernon seven times before she ever saw it. Assuming it was motion sickness and not a virus (some of these might work on an actual illness too), the next time your kid feels sick in the car:
- Open all the windows wide, and have him use his hand to direct a blast straight into his face. - Have him watch the horizon. - Have him put his thumb in the inside center of his wrist. Tell him it's a pressure point that relieves motion sickness. This may or may not be true, but the placebo effect is pretty good. - Stop for ginger ale and ginger snaps. - Have him put his hand on the steering wheel as you drive.
Oh, and three or four refrigerator packs of baking soda will help with the scent. It worked when a mouse died in my vents.

Speaking as a motion sick person myself, mint is fantastic for nausea and related headaches. Dramamine's good, though now you can only find it in non-drowsy formula (It used to be perfect for that motion sick kid you wanted to keep in a nice quiet semi comatose state, darn their meddlesome ways!) Doc is right about ginger ale and snaps (Sprite works too, but stay away from Mountain Dew it's way too thick). He's also right on the baking soda thing, we had a three bean salad go in the floor of the family vehicle once (gag!) and it helped tons.
I have to say though, A LOT of food in that article. Crikey!

- Stop for ginger ale and ginger snaps. But beware of premenstrual werewolves.

But then I remember the lateness crack and I just don't think I have the time. Guess I'll just have to eat it myself. Cruel and unusual punishment. I thought better of you than that. Clearly I was mistaken. *sniffle* (Besides, I drove halfway across the country and didn't get lost. So there.) I have to admit, I'm amused that the majority of the feedback turned out to be carsick remedies! To be honest, SoM1 has never been carsick before to my knowledge, so it didn't occur to me to stockpile Dramamine, mint or ginger snaps. (And the hand on steering wheel idea just wouldn't fly since I keep the offspring in the back seat.) I'll be more prepared next time though! Thanks guys!

From the article: Or-e-gano? What the hell? You underestimate me. I know what oregano is. It goes on Italian Hoagies. I miss Italian Hoagies. *sigh*

Actually, I quote Marge Simpson. I know it's sea salt that mystifies you. I've seen the state you've left the MRFH kitchen in!

I don't have anything THAT wierd in my cuboards!!!! I don't think.... Well, maybe capers are kinda wierd. I was amused at the article, too. And don't worry about the pics, Sue. Just remind me never to wear that black tank top again. ICK! And a.) yes Sue is right about Jude Law and Lupin (It would have been WRONG), and b.) I only get annoyed when they spell "Moony" "Mooney". I mean, come ON. It's a BOOK. How hard is it to look up the proper spelling? Mooney. Sheesh.

Sue, I know there is (or at least, there was in the mid-90s) a Chik-Fil-A in one of the malls in the Quad Cities area. Either SouthPark or NorthPark. I guess it depends on how far you're willing to road trip.
I decided to pay a visit to the Chik-Fil-A website and it turns out that there's one in both NorthPark and SouthPark. There's also one in Racine, WI, Minneapolis, MN, and Mankato MN.

Hmmm... minimum 240 mile round trip for a chik-fil-a sandwich. Sadly enough, it might just be worth it....

So I'm sitting in a hotel room in Southfield MI, and this thought comes to mind... will I ever see an article on the MRFH summit in Detroit? I mean, there was soooo much material to choose from...
And, for those who were lucky enough to be in Detoit for the wedding, let it be known that I was impressing my co-workers with my navigational skills tonight. ;D

The article will come likely as soon as I find time to finish my contribution to it.

Wait... you're saying you didn't accidentally pull into any used computer stores behind seedy-looking warehouses tonight? ;D -D Remember it was a combination used computer store/liquor store. Possibly one of the finest landmarks in Justin's fair city! And we got to see it. Well, the backside of it anyway. Where the dumpsters were. And the dead end.
