It was scary. The r-squared was really close to one, if I remember correctly. Duckie showed it to me- I forget where the link was. But it was a lovely demonstration of just how statistics could be manipulated!

Pirates? Huh? Did someone just see The Fog?
Bladestarr did hit upon an area in which feminism is divided, and in which I violently disagree with some other women who consider themselves "liberated." Actresses, models and porn stars frequently claim that it is liberating for women to display themselves in a sexual way and for the purpose of emphasizing their sexuality.
I don't believe this, because it encourages men to think of women as bodies before anything else. And it's quite clear that this is exactly the effect it has. Guys don't watch videos or look at pictures of someone they respect in order to turn themselves on. That's not how it works.
To use your sexual identity to get what you want is to tell everyone that you are completely lacking in useful skills. To do it as a fighter (my sister has now been a martial arts practitioner for several years, and we've discussed the theory often) is to say that you are so weak and lame that you can't win without distracting your opponent in a manner that any real martial artist would consider both dishonorable and demeaning.
This probably also explains the frightening trend in cinema, music and magazines of showing hypersexualized women trying to act like little girls, or vice versa. Americans are reaching a cultural point where we no longer consider it attractive for a woman to be a functional adult.

Again, I have to question our puritannical morals. Totally off subject, but I just couldn't resist. Puritanical only has ONE 'n'. ;D

That's funny, I always thought the use of violence instead of civil discussion to resolve a dispute was demeaning to ALL of humanity. ;D (Hence the hating of action movies) Oh Snap!

I don't think there's any point in going into the pacifism/pro-violence argument, because it's been debated by brighter people than are we. Suffice to say I fall into the latter category.

Yes, there are non-sexual uses for a female breast, such as breastfeeding. But there are sexual aspects to the female breast as well. Hear hear! This does not have to be -- nor should it be, frankly -- an either/or proposition. Reminds me of that old joke: The student -- not necessarily a very well-prepared student -- sat in his life science classroom staring at a question on the final exam. The question directed:
"Give four advantages of breast milk."
What to write? He sighed, and began to scribble whatever came into his head, hoping for the best:
1. No need to boil. 2. Cats can't steal it. 3. Available whenever necessary.
Hmm. So far so good... maybe. But the exam demanded a four-part answer. Again, what to write? Once more he sighed. He frowned. He scowled. Then sighed again. Suddenly he brightened, grabbed his pen and triumphantly scribbled his completed answer:
4. Comes in attractive containers. And that, ladies and gentlemen, would be "'Nuff said." -D
