I thought everyone did an outstanding job, but special kudos to Shalen for that article... funny stuff. Especially liked the remark about the difficulty of finding a virgin bride in this day and age... reminded me of that Drew Carey episode where Myles from Murphy Brown guest starred. He claimed to be the Devil and almost won Kate's soul in a game of pool with Drew, but gave up when he found out Kate was, ahem, not quite as pure as he had previously believed.
"You told me you were a virgin!!!" "Had I been drinking? Sometimes when I'm really, really drunk, I'm a virgin."
"Hey, you want a virgin, buddy, stay out of Cleveland! We may not get it regular, but we got it once!"
Heh heh. ;D

The plot for Undead sounded a lot like a zombie short story that was in Stephen King's Nightmares and Dreamscapes. Namely the meteorites causing zombification, a fishing village, and a pregnant protagonist. Do you know if there was a connection, or is a lot of that standard zombie movie fare (the only zombie movie I've seen is Shaun of the Dead)?

Thanks! Humorous guides/lists are my favorite kind of pieces to write, so I'll probably be turning in more of them for articles.
I really liked Nancy's review of "Blood Diner." Love the enthusiasm, Kiddo. ("Beatrix Kiddo." "Here!")

Hi! Good stuff all round FYI: the film Sue references (motorcycle gang killing themselves to come back from the dead) is called "Psychomania" and is a 70s British Hammer House of Horror film. It is also rubbish.

I'm really glad someone got around to doing Poltergeist. This has been one of my favourite horror movies since I first saw it as a child. I mean, in a fit of bad parenting, I saw a slew of (admittedly very poor) horror films while I was growing up thanks to my parents (including Aliens, which I saw when I was 10). But, you know, that said, we'd watch them all as a family (and my Dad worked nights for most of my formative years, the times when he was there were are special, in hindsight) and it never gave me nightmares. So I rescind the "bad parenting" comment and apologise to my parents ANYWAY! Poltergeist really was a great film. It had pretty good effects for the time and yet, as Sue insightfully says, the horror comes from the children and their imagination, something everyone on the planet can identify with. There are only three films I have seen that have genuinely terrified me: 1. The Ring (U.S. version) 2. The Blair Witch Project (and then, it wasn't so much the film, more the fact that I was home alone on Halloween after watching the midnight showing of BWP at the cinema and then having the intruder light flicking on and off as the wind blew the trees around ) 3. Descent Event Horizon also made me jump a bit but it wasn't what I would consider to be terrifying. Yo!

Drew, do you have ANY idea how painful it is to snarf on a mouthful of grape Wonka Nerds? I may need medical intervention, but I'm still laughing over this line.

I watched Poltergeist on TCM last night while I was at work, ya know, to get in the Halloween spirit, so I was quite surprised and amused to be able to read Sue's fresh review the very next day. And to find out that we share many similar feelings about that movie. Rock on!
