If you've ever played this game (And if you haven't go out and by it now. NOW! OBEY THE FIST!) please share your best answers.
(Abbreviation) S.Y.L.P.- Siberian Yak Liberation Party (Movie) Sinking Feeling- Obscure Laurel & Hardy Feature in which they play sailors who find the lost city of Atlantis, A beautiful Princess, and and evil sea monster. (My brothers answer to it) A women sinks deeper into depression when her Alphabet soup spells out "Die"
and for those who don't know what the game's about, somebody reads a Word, Abbreviation, Movie, Or Person and you make up complete bull *poop* and if somebody guesses that yours was the right one you get a point, it's kind of complicated.

I played some Balderdash as a kid. You can imagine why my family still all giggles in the rare instance we hear the word "hoopoo".
True story.
Cranium's more fun, though.

Hmmmm, when we used to play this years ago, I don't recall abbreviations as part of the game. But then again, I don't think it had topics such as movies either. I know there have been newer versions that have come out, were they updates to the game? Am I dating myself? I loved this game. But, we eventually had to stop playing. We got to the point where we could tell each other's fake definitions (e.g., one friend always used clues in the room, and another often referred to exotic locations, etc) - so it started to become easy to eliminate several of the choices. Plus, there were a few in our group that actually KNEW the real definitions to many of the words... who would have thought that possible? Oh, and the TV version on GSN doesn't do the board game justice.

The only version of Balderdash I've played is the old version, without the topics, and it was a blast. That would be a really great game to play when you are sleep deprived. Then again, anything can be fun when sleep-deprived.

We play this a lot in our senior high youth group (other faves are Scattergories, Fact or Crap?, Taboo, and Trivial Persuit)... I think the high humor value and the lying factor make for great appeal.
