Eva G. Vandergeld, in one of my favorite FGF reviews (more like a viewing), says this about Tom Green's acting genius: "In this one scene, in ten seconds flat, I see almost the entire paper-thin depth of Green’s comedy technique: say the line over and over again, increasing in pitch until he’s shouting, and screwing up his face in the kind of distorted way we all do in front of the vanity mirror. That’s it. That, and hopping about flapping his arms." Ahoy, thar be genius ahead!

Man, Alan Funt's gonna be pissed to find out he wasn't the first... -D I was actually planning on writing "besides candid camera"...I guess I should listen to my gut next time to avoid being patronized. By the way, Tom's book is amazing too.

Also, jackass was pretty much a rip off of the tom green MTV show, because Tom had cancer and he couldn't do the show anymore. Though Jackass did more stunts than Tom, most of the camera stuff on the street was blatantly ripped off of Tom Green (the whole cripple thing is the most blatant). I know my stuff...I mean, his show was the first to not have a happy go lucky "SMILE! WE CAUGHT YOU!" approach to the whole hidden camera thing, and he was one of the first shows to show things like eating bugs and putting raw meat on your head...look, everyone has a different kind of humor, and to each is own, I definitely think Tom Green has his own brand of humor...that last reply angered me a lot...yes, I agree the movie is pretty bad (the reason I like it is because I was already a tom green fan, so I knew what to expect, and I felt it had some moments) but I like Tom Green in general..so...stick it up your nose.

Didn't Tom Green also invent the Internet? I mean, besides Al Gore? EMS, you can like Tom Green and that's just peachy keen, (whoa, I rhymed!) but don't get your knickers in a twist when others disagree with you. (And do expect some good-natured teasing if you diss Allen Funt, rest his soul.)

I didn't diss Alan Funt...
but why should I NOT get my... er...knickers in a bunch? You guys are verbally raping Tom! If you guys can go out generalizing and spouting insults I should be able to state my opinion in whatever manner I please.

Sorry to offend you EMS, but Tom Green is unfunny, gross, and completely without any talent. That is my hounest opinion. Calling his stuff humor is like calling Batman and Robin a superheroflick masterpiece.

Could it be that we're spiraling toward a repeat of the Dragonball Incident? You people should buy the canada box set and stop generalizing. There's a fun sort of irony in that statement. If I had to pick just one--either buy the box set or stop generalizing--I'm not sure which I'd go for. I do love to generalize, but I also love not spending money on crap. You guys are verbally raping Tom! And as a member of his elite Royal Guard, it is your duty to defend his honor with your life. Incidentally, didn't he verbally rape himself once? It sounds like something he might do. Take a lesson from the discerning anime fan, EMS: Merely enjoy, do not attempt to proselytize.

Before this all gets too far out of hand...
Justin's review is his opinion. It was not an attack at EMS or anyone else (except maybe Tom Green, but that's his prerogative). As Sue said before, EMS can like Green as much as he wants, but getting all upset about someone else's opinion is like wishing for an end to world hunger. There's no point.
That the majority of the folks in here seem to share J's opinion is beside the point. We're not lining up to kick EMS for his opinion. That said, Bubba makes an excellent point: merely repeating that we should all like Tom Green's material doesn't mean that we will.
Can we all let this go now?
