Excellently done, Al! You hit all the points of the movie, both good and utterly ridiculous, that make it great.

Okay, just starting to read the viewing...I do have a fondness for the original Highlander, and I just had to stop for a moment to answer a musing early on... On "Princes of the Universe" aka "Queen Song #1," I quote from the viewing: On another note, I've always sort of wondered whether this song was made specifically for Highlander, or it just happened to be uncannily appropriate. The answer is, yes, yes it was. In fact, Queen's 1986 album "A Kind of Magic" was a quasi-soundtrack for the movie. "Princes of the Universe," "A Kind of Magic," "Don't Lose Your Head," "Who Wants to Live Forever," and "Gimme the Prize (Kurgan's Theme)" are all very closely tied into the movie, even sampling clips of dialogue and sound effects in the songs. And if you are so inclined, check out the music video for "Princes."[/url] The cameo alone is worth it. Why yes, Queen is tied for my all-time favorite band. Does it show? I have a Freddie Mercury poster above my bed. I can pick out the sound of the Red Special before I even know Brian May's playing on a track. I can play the basslines to six Queen classics. I'm such a Queen Nerd. ;D Anyhoo, rip-roaring good viewing so far...off to read the rest of it.
