so i need a new pair (or two) of jeans. here's the thing, though: i'm super-picky. can you help? here's my main criteria:
- must be super-cool jeans that girls will look at and go "whoa, he's the cool." no kmart or target jeans, then. price ceiling: let's say $130 (for each pair) - must be pretty darn thin. i grew up with the colorado need for jeans, where they had to be thick and rugged in case it started to snow all of the sudden. now i'm addicted to the california year-round jean diet, but i prefer my jeans to be really thin material. like skater punk jeans from vans and/or super-stretched thin express jeans. the thinnest jeans i've ever felt were vans jeans (but they were out of my size [34-34]) and express jeans; i have some bulldog jeans that are good and right now i'm getting by on thin levis i bought in las vegas at the mall. thin is good!
i guess that's it. thin is most important, followed by looks. i'm willing to pay for them, mostly because i'll probably end up at south coast or fashion island and it's all expensivo out there. actually, i'll probably hit victoria gardens, instead. i'm thinking aloud, sorry. but if any guys can testify to their best pair of jeans, or if any girls can share their favorite guy jeans that they've encountered (dirty stories encourage!) i'd appreciate it. thanks!

Just get a friggin' pair of jeans from Express, man. They're exactly what you want. Try the Meneker; I've got a pretty good pair of those, and, remember, we're built about the same way. I dig 'em.
Side note: I'm totally hetero, but I'm watching Love Actually and realizing that the scene where Laura Linney doesn't sleep with "Carl" is the least realistic scene in the movie, 'cause the guy is so perfect looking it's like he's carved out of stone. There is a very good chance -I- would do Carl were he three-fourths naked in my room. I'm just saying. And I'm arrow-straight.

I agree with you, Kevin. Since I don't buy men's jeans regularly, I doubt I'll be of any help-- but if it's possible, make sure it's a plain pair. Don't get any with fade patches and trendy what-nots. Unless money isn't an issue with you. Because I'm broke 99% of the time, I try to get a pair of jeans that will remain trendy-looking for as long as possible.

Vain Californians...

I second Justin's sentiment, as my jeans are made of pure cheapness. I think I'm going to call them "peasant breeches" from now on.
EDIT--Take Kyle's ceiling of $130, and divide by 10.

$130. For one pair of jeans. Jeans. $130.
I think I need to reboot my brain.

130 bucks? Dude. You've been watching too much Laguna Beach. Step back from the abyss, my friend.
Here's an idea- buy a Gamecube, a pair of Target jeans, and enough free drinks/gifts/dinners/whatever so that the girl really doesn't care what brand of jeans you're wearing. Problem solved.

And instead of whatever $60 shirt you were looking at, get Metroid 2 to go with that Cube. Trust me.

I have to agree with all these people aghast at your price ceiling, but being the understanding kind of guy I am I'm going to assume (1) that you really meant ceiling, and (2) that prices are higher where you live and so the price isn't all that appalling.
So I would suggest the old standard of Lee or Levis. Second on the "no faded bits or tears or whatever crap they have now" thing. If you were worried about comfort I would suggest Route 66 or Old Navy (for some reason they're the two most comfortable jeans I ever wore--I got them both secondhand BTW so I have no idea on price).
Really though, do the girls around where you live care that much about the brand of jeans you wear? I've never heard any guy obsess about this kind of thing out here on the uncultured East Coast.
Edited because getting "i" and "e" mixed up seems to obscure the point of my sentences.

You spelled the word the same, just in italics. No less impressive.

update: i bought some $20 vans relaxed jeans on clearance. but i'm still looking!
keep in mind that i wasn't hoping to spend $130 on a pair of jeans, but having looked around at the "cooler" brand names out there, i've noticed $50 is below average and $175 will usually buy you one leg of diesel jeans. i'm just thinking that i could use a primary jeans for all purposes (dating, beachcombing, looking cool) and i'm willing to spend some money to get a really nice pair that will last a while and look cool.
plus, most of you guys have significant others! i'm still looking, and i'd like use expensive jeans to attract that special girl that will be just as vain, superficial and air-headed as me! ah, love!

I would suggest the old standard of Lee or Levis. Yup, I'll second that... I love Levi's 560 jeans. And they're not $130... unless you're talking CDN or Aussie money
