Back in this thread, Justin asked "What movies are you most looking forward to seeing in 2008?"
My answer was:
Oh those halcyon days of youth. Four months ago. Back when I was stupid and didn't know when Quantum of Solace will be out (I don't know what I was thinking! Gah!).
So, now that we're a quarter of the way through the year, and before the summer blockbuster rush, how have you been doing on your movies? And how have they been doing for you? Any titles you'd like to add your original list?
For me, so far I've seen (in order):
National Treasure 2
Cloverfield
The Bank Job
The Forbidden Kingdom
National Treasure 2 was fairly entertaining, and The Bank Job exceeded expectations and was a solid heist film (love those). Cloverfield was excellent. Just saw The Forbidden Kingdom Saturday (Mike's review pushed it over into 'theater worthy.' Thanks, Mike!), in an almost deserted theater with good company by my side. Walked out of it wishing that I had it on DVD already. My next two Saturdays are booked with friends for Iron Man and Speed Racer (which still looks completely insane).
As for adding to my list, Quantum of Solace (dur), and The Half Blood Prince (which I forgot the first time), with a solid maybe on The Fall. That one might be rental. Not sure.
My answer was:
The Dark Knight is my absolute, must see at all costs, theater worthy movie. There's others that are on my maybe theater worthy, we'll see how it goes list, but I'm afraid of getting my expectations up... and I have problems with commitment.
But for the most part I'm looking forward to:
Iron Man
The Incredible Hulk
Prince Caspian
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Cloverfield
The Other Boleyn Girl
Speed Racer (in an 'it's going to be completely insane' kind of way)
The next Bond is 2009.
