Deep Secret, by Diana Wynne Jones. Mind you I can't think of anyone who'd do it right, but it's funny and clever.

It would never happen but an animated adaptation of Alan Moore's Promethea would probably blow a lot of minds. I can see Rick Linklater doing this...
Same with a movie adaptation of Stranger In A Strange Land.
It would be cool if they could forget Queen Of The Damned ever happened and reboot the Vampire Chronicles franchise.

American Gods. Just because it would be interesting to see how they handle a Los Angeles hooker who swallows a man whole with her...uhm...well use your imagination.

Watchmen.
Because, really, how could they ever... um... oh.

I agree with Al about Jennifer Government. The book basically reads like a screenplay to begin with; with so much action, there's not much trouble in adapting it. But there's no way I'm going to see the World War Z movie that's in production, because I find it hard to believe they could improve on the book. The book was the perfect medium for that story.
(But if they do it well, I really want an adaptation of the Zombie Survival Guide, if only as a DVD extra.)
I'd like to see an adaptation of A Little Princess that didn't change the whole $%^*ing ending of the book. Listen, we've seen Disney movies, we know parents die. Don't cop out on us.

Hmmm. . . this is a fun thought. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, because no matter what imdb.com says, it has NOT been done yet. Walking Dead would be the greatest freakin' TV show since Studio 60 went off the air. Macbeth would rock my socks. Ooh, and following the recent (awesome) trend of canceled TV shows doing big screen films with the original cast, now would be a fine time for a Slings & Arrows movie. If you haven't seen it, you damn well should. That is a frightenly realistic portrayal of theatre life. And, just for fun, Pac-Man: The Movie. Hey, it couldn't be any weirder than Super Mario Bros.

The French Executioner by C. C. Humphreys, a historical fiction tale of Anne Boleyn's executioner's quest to bury her six-fingered hand at a crossroads in France. Contains much buckling of swashes and criss-crossing of Europe.
orangejesus, I have yet to see a version of Macbeth with Shakespeare's text that I think is up to task, but there was a modern retelling done a few years ago with James McAvoy and Keeley Hawes that is frighteningly good. 'I don't watch it before going to bed' good.

Well, the Scottish tragedy is a tricky one, to be sure, ma'am, but it is so worth the attempt. Have you ever sat and read the text? There is some amazing stuff in there, and some beautiful visuals to rendered with an artist's lens.
"This Duncan Hath borne his faculties so meek, hath been So clear in his great office, that his virtues Will plead like angels, trumpet-tongued, against The deep damnation of his taking off"
Confusion, paranoia, thirst for power, fear, moral conflicts, and that absolute lunatic of a wife. .. Macbeth has got crap to deal with, y'all. Could be awesome to see (and I agree, every stage version I've ever seen totally blew--but who doesn't like a challenge, eh?).

I have yet to see a version of Macbeth with Shakespeare's text that I think is up to task, That's why I just stick to Kurasawa for my Shakespeare. They aren't his words exactly, but have you seen Throne of Blood? I don't think MacBeth will ever get much better onscreen.
