Hey, watch it, bub! What do you expect from a chick veritably in love with the wolvster? Can't stand the [jerk].. But honestly, it doesn't have much to do with the other characters that I do like, I just think that he's a bit too much of a stuffed shirt *shrugs* i like wild men.
Oh, Cyclops is wild, baby... he just knows enough not to flaunt it. It's the quiet ones who'll surprise you.
"Cyclops is the best superhero in the world. He is, as far as I'm concerned, the Batman. He's been in intensive training since his early teenage years to lead the first-ever mutant rescue and security team. This is a guy who gets up every morning asking himself how he can be better."
"You can always spot the real alpha male in any room because they're the most relaxed and least arrogant. That's Logan. He knows he's ‘the best there is at what he does.' What becomes interesting is that he also knows what he cannot do. He needles Cyclops, laughs at Cyclops, but would never in hell presume to take over from or ignore Cyclops."

Seasons End by Marillion = Captain Britain
I'm probably not digging as deeply as I should be, but repeated references to England should count for something...
Not as deeply as you should be... or just deep enough? Regardless, you are correct, sir! Brian Braddock, twin brother of the X-Men's Psylocke, chose the Amulet of Right over the Sword of Might and was gifted with the powers of Captain Britain! Brian may have felt he'd reached the end numerous times during his alcoholic days, or when he was lost in the timestream (only to be rescued by Excalibur teammate Phoenix), or when the Fury killed him, but he always seems to be reborn anew, whether figuratively or literally.
That's my take on it anyway, though you may certainly be onto something about all the references to England.

Annie Get Your Gun=Meltdown?
BAM! Indeed... the fiesty, Madonna-wannabe Tabitha Smith is the correct answer. In some ways the progenitor of Jubilee, Boom Boom was an obnoxious, loudmouthed brat who blew things up well before the mallrat ever hit the scene. But she matured (somewhat) during her time with the New Mutants and X-Force, to the high-spirited adventuress we know today.
Although she really, REALLY shouldn't have let Sabretooth fool her like that.

A pinch of logic and a dab of gut feeling, on a big pile of wild guess. . .
"Lock and Key" by Rush:
Havok?
(By the way Drew; I believe my score should be 3, as Strong Guy, Siryn and Warpath are all in my trading card collection.)
The good news is: you're right about the score, it's been adjusted. Sorry about that, and good eye. The bad news is: nope, not Havok. Better luck tomorrow!

-For Excalibur, the members on this playlist are the five founding members of the team. Three of them were former X-Men, the other two had never been members of an X-team before (though one is related to an X-Man). Hopefully that helps, Good luck, everyone! -D Oh, and methinks I should point out for the sake of posterity ( posterity? Ha ha, I slay me), my Phoenix attempt was referring to Jean Grey, not one of the 5 billion other Phoenixes that have graced the X-pages over the years. Duly noted. For the record, there is only one true Phoenix other than Jean, and she is the fiesty, slightly crazy Rachel Summers. Even if she wasn't exactly around when this playlist was compiled. How is it possible that Rachel summers isn't on the list if she was one of the five founding members of Excalibur? There was Nightcrawler, Phoenix (rachel), shadowcat, Cap Brit, and Meggan.. Those are the five members.. but she wasn't around when the playlist was compiled..? Even though Excalibur was published from the late eighties to the late nighties? I am seriously confused... When I say she "wasn't around," that doesn't necessarily mean she hadn't been created yet. (Because, obviously, she had.) It might have more to do with her circumstances at the time...

>.> Can't begin to say how very misleading that is..
It's not an intentional attempt to mislead anyone; I really was just referring to Ray's status in the X-universe at the time, not implying she didn't exist yet. Sorry if the phrasing was confusing.
Anyway
My guess for the evening is "Moonlight Desires" by Gowan. I believe this song is meant for Meggan, seeing as how the verses talk about changing someone's feelings, and make mention of being able to control fire, and Meggan has elemental powers as well. Huzzah!
Yep! An elemental, Meggan's appearance changes according to her environment and mood- for years she had the form of an ugly, monstrous creature and was thought to be a changeling. But when Captain Britain met her and Meggan fell for him, her form changed to reflect the love she felt and her ongoing contentment, taking on its current gorgeous state. Meggan also, not having been raised in proper society, possesses a great deal of naivete and very few societal hangups. She has at various times been suspected of being a faerie or a mutant; but whatever she is, no one would be surprised to find her innocently dancing naked and free on the English moors under the pale moonlight, just because it feels good. Perhaps more of us could stand to take a lesson from Meggan.

Hey, no worries. I was just giving you a hard time. You don't know how much confusion and gear grinding BaccaWacca and I went through when I realized my mistake in not having both jean and rachel on my list XD
And WOOT for the majority of our guesses being right tonight!

You know, I'm going through the rest of the names and songs I have left unanswered, and I'm coming up with the same conclusion.. I can't figure out Jean's or Polaris' song..
Your friend seriously needed to put "Crazy Bitch" on here for at least one of them >.> [/snark]

Burning Down One Side by Robert Plant - Sunfire?
Eminently logical... and correct! Japan's most famous mutant and member in good standing of Big Hero 6, Shiro Yashida has the power to generate and project superheated plasma, enabling him to fly and to burn the high holy %$&* out of anything that gets in his way. Notoriously temperamental, Sunfire was a member of the X-Men for only a single mission before getting pissed off and flying away. Good thing, since otherwise he might have been around to save Thunderbird's life.

Well, gang, with two days left, the list is nearing completion! Most of the songs have been correctly identified, but there's still a few question marks. We've got 2 main frontrunners, so the next 48 hours could determine which of them takes home the grand prize. In addition, at this point almost everyone is still eligible for one of the runner-up prizes, so keep those guesses coming!
To aid in the process, another batch of hints, which may or may not help:
-Four of the five founding members of Excalibur have been identified so far; the only outlier is Phoenix II, aka Rachel Summers. Determining where she was when this list was compiled might give you a clue.
-Three members of X-Factor down, three to go. Of those three, two were members of the X-Men prior, but their songs have nothing to do with their powers and everything to do with their mental states. The other one, it's a bit hard to separate his powers from his mental state.
-Six of the nine "classic" New Mutants have been guessed, leaving only Mirage, Sunspot, and Magik. As well, all X-Force members except Cable have been identified. For him, it might be beneficial to think of him as he was originally introduced, before any of the backstory and familial relations or powers were brought into things.
-As far as the Oz-Men go, being a team member wasn't exactly Dazzler's first choice. Longshot, on the other hand, WAS eager, but his song has more to do with the constant cycle he's trapped in, and why he ultimately left.
-Jean's song has to do with her role with the X-Men, and the ultimate outcome of the Dark Phoenix Saga.
-Banshee had a life before the X-Men.
Okay, I think that's enough to be getting on with. As always, good luck!
-D

Ok, it on, now. I'm torn between two guesses, but I'll throw down the one that pertains to Drew's clues, and keep the other for a potential ace in the hole Not one of Us by Peter Gabriel = Longshot? Right era, wrong character.

Hahaha you can tell by the grammatical, punctuational, and capitalization errors in my last post just how eager I was to get that guess out. This game has...affected me...

Gotta slip this in before someone else gets it
Going for the obvious here..
Rachel? she was missing during the time of this.. lost in the time-stream or some such..
"Where were you" TOTALLY has to be her song?!
You would think, except it's called "Where Were You," not "Where ARE You." This character probably wondered where other people were.
