Takin' my shot!
"Games Without Frontiers" by Peter Gabriel:
Multiple Man.
Nope. I still can't believe no one has gotten Madrox's yet.

I just want to take a moment to say that I'm a half hour later than usual posting my guess because I WAS AT RIFFTRAX LIVE AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Oh man it was so wonderful! I bought tickets the day they came out, so I was close enough to them to see them sweat! Yes, that's a good thing. OH!!!! *dies from happy* Yeah, so tonight's guess. A lot on the line eh, Oogie? Giving me a serious run for my money. This better be good....... Polaris=The Walking and Constantly? I believe it 100% fits mental stability AND even seems to reference her difficulty with her relationship with Havok. But even if I'm wrong I'm okay 'cause I SAW RIFFTRAX LIVE AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Ha... guess this is one hell of a night for you, then. Poor Polaris. She and Havok constantly overshadowed by the quintessential X-Men couple of Cyclops and Jean Grey, Lorna Dane has struggled for years with questions of identity (is she Magneto's daughter or not?), frequent bouts of mind control, occasional mental illness, low self-esteem regarding her body, and her lover being dead for a while. She's had a rough life.

If the big red handprint left on my face by a particular line from a particular song I just looked up the lyrics for is any indication; I know the answer now too. Guess it's all going to come down to which of us is quicker on the login. (Cue swirling dust and exactly one tumbleweed.)

Alrighty, final guess! Let's make it a good one.
Multiple Man = "Home by the Sea/Second Home by the Sea"
He's spent lots of time at Miur Island, and his early life was spent in a farm house deserted because his parents died.
Can I get a wha-what?

"Shadows but no substance, in the shape of men," was what really jumped out at me. Aaaand. . .I think you may have just made a second guess in the same 24 hour period as your last one. Could be wrong.

Well, according to the time stamp, I guessed it last night at 11:04 pm, and I guessed it tonight at 9:58 pm... which I guess is technically in the same 24 hours oO;; I coulda sworn I had guessed at around ten last night, but I'll understand if you don't want to give me the point for it, drew

It's kind of beffudling, because the boards are on Mountain time, you're Central, and the midnight guess-reset is Eastern.

The cutoff for every 24-hour period is midnight eastern time. My computer says you guessed this morning at 12:04, astral, which would make this guess invalid. I'm not going to comment one way or the other on the accuracy of the guess. The next guessing period becomes open in just under half an hour; if you want to guess again in that time period, astral, you're welcome to.
By the way, the time zone the boards display can be reset to whatever you want it to be; just make the change in your profile settings.

Things are intense here, ladies and gentlemen. We're down to the wire. Can you feel it? My hands are shaking, my senses keen....Ok so probably no one cares but me. And possibly Oogie. That's not going to spoil my megalomaniacal pretensions that you're all hanging on the edge of your seat for the my last guess: Magik=No Self Control FTW!!1!1!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!!!
You know it! Illyana Rasputin, younger sister of the X-Man Colossus, fell into the demon realm Limbo when she was a child, and while only seconds passed here, she experienced seven years of hell, becoming the apprentice of the demon lord Belasco. Eventually conquering him, Magik escaped to Earth and joined the New Mutants, but lived in fear of the day when she would lose control, becoming the demonic Darkchylde and unleashing hell upon the world. With help from her teammates she was able to forestall this event, but reverted back to her child self and later died of the Legacy Virus. Now, twenty years later, the Magik is finally back... er, maybe.

Okay, fair enough. This is me waiting.............. Okay, it's midnight eastern time now.. Multi man = "Home by the Sea" Yup! I know Genesis wrote the song about a burglar breaking into a house and being haunted by the ghosts within it, but to me it's always been a glimpse into the mind of Jamie Madrox. But for all the jokes he cracks, Madrox's head is a dark, chaotic place full of countless aspects of his personality, all struggling to be made flesh and act out their particular traits, whether good or ill. (Plus, Jamie lived on Muir Island almost continually from 1974-1991, longer than Havok, Polaris, or Banshee. Not to mention the presence of the Second Home By The Sea, which I truly thought would give it all away.) With the power to create duplicates of himself, Madrox is capable of living every life he wants simultaneously, but because of it finds himself paralyzed into indecision at all times. Isn't it ironic?
"Oh, by the way, we're called Madrox, the Multiple Man. Way our power works, every time we're hit, we double. One to two, two to four, to eight, to sixteen, and so on. Harder you fight, greater the odds. In the end, we win. We always win. Your move."
