The world is good and pure again! Still of the Night does indeed describe Wolverine, aka Logan, aka James Howlett, the man of a thousand contradictions. Fierce wild animal, restrained Japanese samurai. Rebellious troublemaker, grizzled old soldier. Pepsi, Coke. Whatever he is, he's the correct answer this time. Woot! Oh wow. *Massive sigh of relief* I feel such a burden lifted. The fog of desperation and anxiety have cleared. But I have an empty feeling, like I may have said or done some very mean things while my mind was clouded. I hope no one got hurt.... Ah well I'm sure it's nothing. Besides, who cares? I GOT ONE RIGHT I GOT ONE RIGHT I GOT ONE RIGHT

Alright, Tuesday guess.
Strange Animal by Gowan is the much-guessed after Wolfsbane?
This is the only other one I had thought I could score with...lets hope it hits the mark.
Loathe as I am to make Kaleb eat his own face off, you are correct! The shy, religious Rahne Sinclair found she could transform into a wolf or a wolf/human hybrid creature, but initially believed her gift to be a curse from the devil. Later, she would become worried because she felt more peaceful and at home as a wolf than she did as a human.

History Never Repeats by Split Enz = Bishop?
Absolutely! The X-Man known as Bishop came back in time to stop a criminal fleeing from the future and became obsessed with ensuring history did not repeat as his own hellish future. For years Bishop thought he had accomplished this by stopping the X-traitor, but just recently decided he also needs to kill a baby. As one might expect, this has put him on the outs with the other X-Men.

And to think that I had "Assimilate" pegged as Warlock on my list. . . Blast you One-Guess-Per-Day Limitation. You foil my plans. . . Ok, how about Peter Gabriel's "Not one of Us" for Lockheed, dragon extraordinaire?
Ah, mais non... unfortunately, until Joss Whedon decreed otherwise last year, Lockheed was considered merely Kitty and Illyana's pet and the X-Men's mascot, not a member of the team. In the case of the actual character, s/he has definitely been a full-fledged member of the X-Men at various times. Credit for a creative guess, though!

Sadness moment for O.J.: having reread some clues, I think I actually have a better guess for "Not One of Us" but, assuming Lockheed is wrong, I'll just have to wait til tomorrow morning. Poo-poo-ola. And a raspberry.
By the way, muchos kudos to BCWC on the Wolvie guess. Congrats, ma'am.

Alright, Tuesday guess. Strange Animal by Gowan is the much-guessed after Wolfsbane? This is the only other one I had thought I could score with...lets hope it hits the mark. Sorry, that combination was already guessed on the last page, and he said no. So then MY guess for this "playful" song is Lockheed. Listening to the video, it seems to match that "strange animal" perfectly. If you reread his post, Kaleb mentioned both Strange Animal and Moonlight Desires for Wolfsbane, but ultimately guessed the latter. And no, Lockheed is not on the list. Sorry, but keep trying!

Dammit, I was going to say Bishop for 'History never repeats'!
Um, on the offchance that's not right, can I guess Cable? The first time I ever saw him, he'd come back from the future as well. And didn't Jean and Scott wind up in other people's bodies in an alternate future or something to raise him? (the most accurate quote I've ever heard about Cable comes from a fanfic I read once 'Wolverine always said you hadda be drunk to even think of trying to explain Cable outside the family')
Welcome to the forum, taleweaver, glad to have you! As per your final comment, I agree wholeheartedly... I wouldn't even try to explain the Summers family to, say, my wife. How Scott and Jean can have, sort of, two children while Jean has never been pregnant is not something I care to think about too hard. It's even worse than trying to figure out Magik.
But since Bishop was right, I'm afraid Cable is not. Sorry! However, as a clue, there are still a couple of characters left who are noted for time traveling, and at least one song that might fit that motif...

Aargh! Grrr! This is becoming like an obsession. I have name after name after name that I keep checking and crosslisting and fretting about! Curse you, Drew! Why has time stood still for this contest? Why can't I know the answers? I'm going to have on my mock weepy voice for the rest of the day now!

In Between Days by the Cure = Shadowcat?
Yeah-huh! The X-Men's original young, girl-next-door member and ancestor of Buffy Summers and many other strong female characters, Kitty Pryde possesses the ability to phase her molecules in between those of other things, allowing her to pass through walls, walk on air, and even transport herself great distances by phasing herself into the ground and letting the Earth rotate around her.

By the way, muchos kudos to BCWC on the Wolvie guess. Congrats, ma'am. Aw, Thank you OJ! By the way, I really liked your Morph guess! I was all after that one too, until I talked to my nerdier X-Men friend and realized he wasn't ever a real character. He was my absolute favorite in Night of the Sentinels and his death was my first taste of injustice as a child.

Okay, another day, another try... New World Man= Cable? .....you know how much it hurts me to keep having to say no, don't you? Unfortunately, baby Nathan is not the answer to this one, though the actual character in question has been known to use guns in the past.

Hey! I'm not nerdier! I'm... special...ier.. >.>; shooshie. And BLAST! Of COURSE it was Lila.. damn damn double damn *sigh* aw well.. You know, for being a big X-Men fan, I am seriously sucking at this >.>; And TOTAL awesomeness, Heather, for getting Wolvie-baby! *slap!hands* Tuesday's guess... Ummmmm... *emits smoke* Okay, I'm gonna go out on an existential limb here. "How Soon is Now" by the Smiths.. I actually like the song, I think it's pretty interesting. Anyway.. I've been thinking.. dangerous, I know.. I think it sort of fits with Cable. He's steady trying to save the future, in as many dumb ways as he possible can, and he wants it done fast.. plus, when I think of the song, it sorta makes me think of someone who is powerful, but wants to be like everyone else. "you shut your mouth, how can you say.. i go about things the wrong way. I am Human, and i need to be loved. Just like everybody else does..' TELL me that doesn't make you think of poor old cable with his messiah complex..? My personal bias showing through, I try not to think of Cable whenever possible... I've never forgiven him for ruining the New Mutants. However, in this case he's also not the right answer. Sorry! It may be little consolation, but in reference to How Soon Is Now, I can honestly say that I think when the correct character is guessed, there's going to be a lot of people slapping their foreheads and saying "God, of COURSE!"

Alrighty then! White Hot=Magma. She's...well...MAGMA, so there's the hot thing. Also she fits along nicely with your "in the jungle" hint, seeing as the colony she hails from is located in the Amazon Rainforest.
Yes way! The fiery-tempered lass known as Amara Aquilla grew up in a lost Roman outpost located deep in the Brazilian jungle. Now she uses her ability to create earthquakes, to call up and project liquid hot lava, and to surround her body in a fiery blaze as the mutant known as Magma!

Secret Messages by ELO = Cypher?
Right-o! Gifted with an interesting but not particularly combat-worthy power, Cypher learned that his ability to translate any language wasn't much use against small arms fire while saving the life of teammate/girlfriend Wolfsbane. Simultaneously, the other New Mutants discovered that their supposedly bulletproof uniforms... uh, weren't.
