I'll say Son of a Son of a Sailor = Captain McAllister, aka The Sea Captain.
For Salt of the Earth I have two guesses, but I'll go with Gil.

Bob by the Drive-By Truckers = Sideshow Bob RV by Faith No More = Homer, sounds EXACTLY like him. If it's not, then I know what my next guess will be....

Not so lucky with the Drive-By Truckers...it wouldn't be much of a game if I put the character's name right in the song title.

Okay, "Belief" = Reverend Lovejoy, and "Live Wire" = Frank "Grimey" Grimes. How'd I do?

Lovejoy is right, Grimey is not.
Since half of the list has been nicked off, I'll give some more clues...
- 4 of the remaining songs have their clues in the title. (two of those songs have lyrics that elaborate, but shouldn't be necessary in guessing the characters) - 2 of the remaining songs are about specific aspects/episodes of their respective characters. - There are 2 members of the Simpsons family left on the list. Bart is not among them. - Aside from 2 minor characters (one being the fabled one-off celebrity-voiced character), the rest of the list is populated by familiar supporting characters.
Another little incentive for you guys...whoever can correctly guess the one-off celebrity-voiced character and their song will get 2 points. So, if you play your cards right, anyone could potentially get 3 points in one day. I'M JUST THAT CRAZY!!!!
...the one-off character isn't Grimes.

K, I'm going to try this again
No More Mr. Nice Guy by Alice Cooper = Flanders??? 911 Is A Joke by Public Enemy = Snake, our resident criminal?

Flanders is correct! No More Mr. Nice Guy, of course, referring to the episode when Flanders' bottled emotions get the better of him (causing him to spout the wonderful phrase "Oh, hell! Diddley-ding-dong-crap!"). Good job catching that one, Phil!
911 Is A Joke, however, is not Snake's song...

Probably reaching on this one, but could "Dream On" be Grampa Simpson? He spends half of every day asleep, he certainly "sings" about the years pretty frequently, and maybe tomorrow, the good Lord'll take him away.

My guesses for the day:
You Talk Too Much by Run-DMC = Marge Looking at the lyrics to Midnight Rider by the Allman Brothers, I gotta say.... Snake???

My guesses for the day: You Talk Too Much by Run-DMC = Marge Looking at the lyrics to Midnight Rider by the Allman Brothers, I gotta say.... Snake??? Sadly, You Talk Too Much doesn't belong to Marge. It belongs to a supporting character...someone pretty much known for talking too much. But you did get Snake right. Yay, Phil! So, is it down to Phil and Drew now? There are still 8 points up for grabs, it's anybody's game!

You Talk Too Much = Helen Lovejoy
The rest I'm not sure. I'll come back with my second guess after some thinking...

My first guess today is for the "one-off" celebrity character. That guess is: Down There By the Train by Tom Waits = Lyle Lanley, voiced by the amazing Phil Hartman? My second guess for the day is Bob by the Drive-By Truckers = Barney? Reading the lyrics, although they don't really match him exactly, they make me think of him... the song's lyrics "feel" like Barney.
