(note: 'm not talking about different versions of a character, like the BelaLugosi Dracula and the Christopher Lee Ddracula. I'm talking about a character being recast in the same series/continuity)

Nolan Batman series: Rachel Dawes turns from Katie Holmes to Maggie Gyllenhaal, Barbara Gordon Sr. also gets recast

Burton/Schumacher Batman series: Batman turns from Michael Keaton into Val Kilmer and then George Clooney.

Harvey Dent turns from Billy-Dee Williams into Tommy-Lee Jones (in the process, turning from black to white).

The young Bruce Wayne and the young Jack Napier also get recast in the Schumacher movies.

Batman animated movies: Barbara Gordon turns from Mary-Kay Bergman into Tara Strong.

Superman series: Superman turns from Christopher Reeves into Brandon Routh.

Lois Lane turns from Margot Kidder into Kate Bosworth.

Lex Luthor turns from Gene Hackmaninto Kevin Spacey.

Perry White turns from Jackie Cooper into Frank Langella.

Some of those movie series (Superman, Batman, Bond) happened over a series of decades. You can't expect actors to disrespect time.

Some of them also died (Mary Kay Bergman) and obviously had to be recast. Christopher Reeves was completely paralyzed, you can't expect him to continue acting.

Lastly, removing Katie Holmes can only serve to make movies better.

So, I'm not exactly following where you're going with this. You also forgot the best recast ever: Bela Lugosi as Ghoul Man, then Tom Mason as the Ghoul man.. in the same film, since Lugosi croaked during filming!
