So I sometimes go through this thing. I watch a movie. It follows me around. I have a moment of quiet, it's in the back of my mind. I'm talking to someone, it (or something about it) works its way into the conversation. Basically, if DVDs had legs, and I looked over my shoulder - it'd be there. Stalking me.
Not that I consider this a bad thing. When a movie hits that place where it can make an impression and sticks with you it can be a good thing. But if it's cause it disturbed you that can be bad. But I digress...
Right now I'm going through that with The Fall. I'm on my third watch. I still can't decide how I feel about it (there's about twenty minutes where it's just kinda mean. And the part with the dolls representing doctors creeps me out).
Can anyone relate, good or bad? Is there anything to be done to remedy it?

Arrr! There be two reasons to be watchin' a movie, says I: to be thinkin', or not to be thinkin'. Both be good choices, arrr! If you be choosin' the former, pain be what you be seekin'. Only when be selectin' a movie, be makin' sure you not be bitin' off more than you can be chewin', arrr! That be only remedy except rum, arrr! Be cheerin' up, lass, says I! The more pain thinkin' be causin', the more wisdom you be gainin', arrr! Be Talkin' Like A Pirate Day! www.talklikeapirate.com/

The pox take ye fer making me hurt meself tryin' not to laugh at work! Aye, 'tis sad but true, hurt be the life of a pirate, arrr! Well, I haven't seen the movie. Certainly seems you are in for quite a ride. About a movie going around in your head? I guess that's completely normal; though books tend to have the longer half life in my experience. So you are somewhat distressed. Is that because the experience/memory of the movie itself or because it keeps coming back to you for longer than usual? Both would be totally understandable. I mean what I said earlier, though. Once you have it in your head, you must deal with it. Think about it, talk about it, then put it away. Don't let it run circles in your head. You will come back to it later, if necessary, with a fresh approach. I once put a movie off for, oh, more than a decade after the first viewing had scared me as a kid. This, shall we say, emotional laziness has not served me well.

No, no. You're misinterpreting a certain flair for tongue-in-cheek dramatis. I'm not distressed, not really. I was hoping to start a discussion about movies that get stuck in your head and you feel like you have to watch it a few times. I mean I can't be the only one who's gotten (bad grammar, kids, don't follow my example) stuck on a movie for a few days/weeks/months. And it's been kinda quiet around here this week, so I wanted to discuss. The only problem I'm having with The Fall is nobody's seen it. So I try to describe it, and it's so visual that's hard, and they go, "Oh, hmm, sounds weird. Hope that works out for you." But no I don't regret my current phase. I've decided I like the movie - very much. Even with the darker, scary parts. I'd recommend it, but I'm not always a good judging stick. the trailer is here for anyone interested. I mean I could go into the movie itself if you want, but the thread was meant as a more general topic.

Well, I know once I finally saw The Godfather Part II, I kept seeing references to the 'Fredo on the boat' scene at the end (one of which was the South Park episode where Cartman repeatedly hits Kyle with a whiffle ball bat).
My friend George also became convinced for a time that he was being followed by Brian Cox, who showed up in every movie he saw once George found out who he was.

No, no. You're misinterpreting a certain flair for tongue-in-cheek dramatis. Indeed. I considered sth. like that, but couldn't see what you were getting at, if you were not serious. So it seems I have only contributed to the amusement, not the discussion. Could be worse. Ha. Well, I saw Mulholland Drive several times. You see, I went in completely ignorant, to avoid any spoiler at all. Didn't know Lynch. A friend had simply told me it was "quite good." Then I wanted to figure it out on my own. I got increasingly frustrated, started discussing with friends ... and you can imagine it led nowhere. So, you are talking about having to see a movie repeatedly, not merely wanting to, right? If that's it (careful this time! ), feel-good movies may be the latter extreme, and there may be a continuum between the two. For a long time, Bourne Identity lay somewhere in between for me. I have never really understood why I watched that so often for months. It wasn't in my head when it wasn't on the screen, however.

If you listen to some Simpsons audio commentary, you become convinced The Godfather and Citizen Kane are plagiarized with great frequency. :-)

A Room With a View is following me around right now. I saw the 2007 version on a whim, and restarted it again as soon as it finished. Then I read the book, which to quote The History Boys:
"The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours."
And then I saw the 1986 version, and not only do I want to rewatch that repeatedly, but I'm now on a quest to view every frame of film that Daniel Day Lewis has ever come in contact with. I can't even pick a version that's my favourite, but I want to watch and read them all constantly as of late.

This happens with a lot of movies I watch. I'm one of those guys that watches a movie several times in few days if it's really, really awesome. On the flip side I'll think about how much I hate a movie forever if it ticks me off even once.
On a different note, and one that I thought this thread was going to be about, I seem to be being followed around by 'Choke'. I cannot avoid the advertisements to save my life. It's like chinpokomon all over again. WATCH ME. WATCH ME. HURRY UP AND WATCH ME. I stand fervently on my decision to not watch it because of over advertising. Same goes for baby mama.

Right now, Mean Girls is stalking me. And as much as I do Love that movie ("Danny DeVito! I Love your work!") seeing Linsday Lohan in her formerly normalesque form all of the time is just a stark reminder of how far she has fallen.
I guess it could be worse. Thankfully no one is airing Crossroads right now.

I had a real issue when I was 14 with Yo Yo Ma stalking me. I don't even know his music but every time I would turn on the radio, watch the news, read the newspaper-BAM! Yo Yo Ma!
For a while now South Park B.L.U. has been in my head, which is odd because I have not watched it in many a moon! Try walking around your work place singing "La Resistance" and see the looks you get. Not good I tell ya.
