Just when you thought it was safe to not write a novel in November... So here's the site. And here are the rules: Write a 50,000 word novel(la) during November (aka the National Novel Writing Month). The race starts November 1st, and the deadline is midnight November 30th. This isn't a contest. There are no gold, silver, or bronze medals, and there is no "Best Author" award. If you cross the 50k word threshold, all you really get in terms of a prize are avatars that say "NaNoWriMo winner" (some forumites proudly display these in their sigs). The website/event/community is meant for people who want to write, but need a little wind in their sails to apply butt to chair and get something done. I know there are some people here who want to participate this year. For the rest of you, you have three weeks to make up your mind. So who's on board?

Count me in.
And folks, considering that I'm going through chemotherapy and raising two teenagers, I can't think that any of you writerly types have any excuse for not participating this year! I mean, unless you're wusses or something. You're not a wuss, are you? Are you?

I...erm...uh....wow. I didn't realize what NaNoWriMo was before. I am so freaking scared of trying to do this. I LOVE to write, and I used to dream of doing something with my supposed "talent". Old poems and manuscripts sit gathering dust in my closet. So now there's this and I feel like I want to so badly and at the same time I'm worried I wouldn't finish it/it would sound really stupid and juvenile.
Okay I will. I'll do it. *sweaty high five*
(The *!&@$ am I gonna write about?)
EDIT: Who reads these novels/novellas?

EDIT: Who reads these novels/novellas? Nobody. (Unless you choose to post excerpts.) It's entirely on the honor system, and the point isn't to show off literary greatness or to write the great [insert nationality of choice here] novel in one go. The point is to prove to yourself that you can churn out 50k words in a month.

The FAQ section of the website includes a list of published novels that were written during NaNoWriMo, with links to websites to where you can buy them; it's pretty encouraging to see what can come out of participating (Although, admittedly, most of the work would have to happen after NaNo, with revisions and additions and whatnot...). Yay, BaccaWacca! ;D (The *!&@$ am I gonna write about?) You have plenty of time to think about that. The first time I participated, I didn't figure out what to write about until the second or third day of November!

I am definitely doing it this year. I have some bad habits (i.e., fanfic) I REALLY need to break, and get writing original stuff.
So in. So, so very in.
Oh yeah- I'm lls_mutant over there.

Okay I'm rori20. Anybody want to be my writing buddy? I'm not sure how to find people on this site yet (this after only being on the site for 5 minutes). EDIT: Ah. Figured it out. I've already harassed Lissa. Who's next?
