My idea was one that I've had for a while, although I'd always envisioned it as a television pilot rather than a novel. But the more I think about it, the more it's begging to be a book series.
I've never written anything about it down except the main character's names (most of which are changing) & one scene which I'm scrapping anyway.

I haven't really planned anything yet, and will probably not do much planning beyond the knowledge that my protagonist is probably going to be embarrassingly like myself, there will be alternate worlds (or the whole thing will be in an alternate world? who knows), fantasy, mythology, all sorts of stuff. I've been reading far too much Neil Gaiman lately and his work will probably end up heavily influencing what I write.

I'm currently reading Neverwhere (finally!) and listening to Fragile Things in my car, so I keep feeling Gaiman's fantasticalish tendrils wrapping around the creative part of my brain.

I shall attempt to try this year. Heck, the way my insomnia has been treating me lately, I should have this thing done in no time (provided I can think of what to write about). Their site seems to be going quite slowly today, but you can find me as....wait for it.... katoot

I watched MirrorMask last night and have a copy of Fragile Things that I will be reading for the next few days. I can't help but let the man's style seep into my consciousness!

And we're off and running. Or limping. Or staggering. Or something.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! NOW STOP READING THIS AND GO WRITE SOMETHING!

Argh. Isn't it great to start off on a completely pessimistic foot? My optimistic foot's still limping from all the walking I did last night.

Ha ha... NOW you're all wishing you had a newborn as an excuse not to participate this year. 18-21 years of sacrificing all your sleep, money, and time isn't sounding so bad now, is it? Suckers.
In all seriousness, good luck to all of this year's participants! May every one of you be successful, which you will be if you remember the cardinal rule: no editing. I don't care if you start off in third person and decide to switch to first person halfway through... don't go back. That's what December next year someday is for.

EEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I'm excited and terrified and all but positive I'm not going to make it to the end! But here goes nothing.
Novel is commencing... now.

I'm kinda dragging my heels right now, but I usually do my writing at night, so it doesn't matter much at this time of day. Good luck, all!

I see the NaNo site is slower than molasses again...normal for the first few days. I'll post my word count later.

I got pep talk e-mail from the website today. I have to say that it did, in fact, pep me up for this. I hope it's going well for everyone. I'm getting a bit excited about it again.

Good luck guys -- I really and truly wish I could be doing it this year, but... no time, no time.
God speed your pens and typewriters and laptops!

Thanks Justin!
Well this stinks....I had about two-hundred words written down yesterday and today I can't find it on my computer. Gone. *sigh* It's quite disheartening. But at least I didn't lose more than that. Maybe I should do it with pen and paper instead....
