Well, still on track at 10,194 words for the moment (writing right now).
I would really appreciate it if my doctor character would remember he's NOT Simon Tam.
I'm also just really having trouble writing this scene. Part of it is that I'm not sure of my technology level in terms of photographs, and part of it is... well... although this is a fantasy novel, the beginning is a huge terrorist type attack. One of my characters is searching for another, and of course the thing that immediately comes to mind is the 9/11 memorials. And since I've been geeking out way too much on BSG, the scene in the miniseries where Dee puts her pictures up in the memorial hallway (which did it so well) comes to mind as well. How to do this authentically, differently, and respectfully?
::sigh::

It's sort of cheating Liss, but if I can't figure out how to work a scene right, I just leave space for it and move on to the next. I can always fill it in later when the muse decides to cooperate or later context makes it coalesce for me. We're all about the word count here, so if you feel yourself sticking, either blast your way through it or temporarily skip over it and keep rolling forward.
I had an extremely unproductive day today. Much napping and SoM1's birthday, so I'm up to 11,487 but I was hoping for it to be more. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
(Oh, and Liss, you might be stuck with Simon Tam, but you'll know what I mean when I say that "Piers" keeps trying to weasel cameo time out of me. I gave him the entire novel last November and he still won't leave me alone!)

ROTFL! The man is insistent, isn't he? ? I thought I'd gotten Adrian to shut up, but my last fic had an Adrienne Reynolds in it as a cameo. I told myself it was ironic Can we ship them all off someplace? I did blast through it. Actually, I decided to skirt the issue for now, and it will probably come back to haunt me, but maybe I can get out of it. Happy birthday to SoM1!!

Been behind the last couple of days. A lot of unexpected events came up and I wasn't even home to write. I got a little extra put in late last night, so now I'm about 2000 words behind. *sigh* Pushing right on through...
The way my life's been going I think I'll just work at a 1-day behind pace until Sunday.
EDIT: So bittersweet...Tomcat left today for a 6-day long school in northern California. There's no cell service so I won't be able to talk to him. For the bulk of those days I'll be all alone, when not at work. BUT that means more time to concentrate on my novel and my reviews and possibly an article or two.

Finally broke 10,000 words. I'm about, oh, 5000 behind but I've got about 5 more hours before I'm off to bed so I'm gonna crank the words out 'til my fingers are on fire.
I've drastically changed course. I've decided to ramp up my creativity and enthusiasm for my story by turning it into the horror story that I originally wanted but was too afraid to tackle. Since I'm still so early in my novel I feel I can do that. Besides...going for word count here, right? I can always go back and change the beginning. But at this point I feel like everything's fitting together rather well.

Until last night I didn't have MS word. I've been trucking along just fine without it and using a javascript word counter. I finally started MS Word up today and copy/pasted my story in there. Chagrin doesn't begin to describe how I felt at seeing a 500 word difference in my word count. the sources at NNWM tell me that MS word is pretty spot on in comparison to the NNWM site's counter.
500 words gone! Oh the horror! The humanity! The closeness to tonight's word count. blown away. BAH! I hate being behind and this just made it worse.
EDIT: Well regardless I hit over 20000 words tonight. I can't believe I did it. Okay so the real point of this edit...does anyone know how I can add that coolio word counting widget to my signature? I am really backward when it comes to using these message boards. Took me eons to figure out how to turn words into a click-able link. Now how the *!:# do I add that widget? I managed to delete my previous Nano badge, which I now can't remember how to put back on there. *smacks head on desk*

We're headed off to Florida for a few days today to see the 'rents. Should be interesting- no computer! Can I make up 10000 words? (I'll handwrite, but we'll see what happens.)

Good luck! I know you can do it. Just pretend like you need to go to the bathroom a lot for long periods of time. Execute some well-timed flushes and grunts to keep concerned family members at bay.

It is creepy how on target that is for me. I was lamenting my novel last night and this morning for the same reasons. Funny how we like to think we are the only ones going through something. We're all overdramatic and ego maniacal that way. Or maybe it's just me.

Done. Well, not exactly done, but over the 50k anyway, so I can finally do other things with a clear conscience! This was probably the hardest NaNo yet for me, but I think it's left me with a decently workable project. Keep going guys! Some of you are soooo close!

WOW! I am so proud of you, Sue. I've been slogging through for so long. I hate hate what I'm writing and I feel as if I am completely writing the most moronic, un-researched deus ex machina thing ever. It is only with the help of Write or Die (and a few generous glasses...er...bottles of J.Lohr) that I have been able to stay motivated. Congratulations, Sue. Sadly we do not support a clapping smiley face. So instead I have giving you a raspberry for beating me so early in the game.
