Getting a job at a store less than a 10 minute walk away. Mmm, 50% off at Quiznos . . .

Coming home from a long cold day of school, and having pizza there waiting for you.

-Watching your 10-month old baby walk towards you, arms out, giggling as he does it.
-Being given free roses at the grocery store.
-A long, hot bath and finally starting Storm of Swords.
-Free Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake for tonight.
Can you tell I'm having a good day?

Here we go. Pure happiness. Holding my 6-day-old nephew, Elias Martyr Olivetti (My brother keeps telling everyone that Martyr means "witness", and we keep telling him we're going to call the kid "Marty"). Is your heart not melted?

Awwww.
Babies are awfully cute once they get over the initial "red and splotchy" phase. Look at that little nubby nose.
Awwww.

Babies are awfully cute once they get over the initial "red and splotchy" phase. You mean puberty? Handsome little tyke, indeed.

Yeah... babies. They don't do ANYthing, and they get so much attention for the sole virtue of being tiny and defenseless and smelling vaguely of spitup. This little guy was the calmest, least squirmiest baby I've ever held.

Also, go Tigers!
No, I don't care about sports nor hold any vast love for Detroit, but there's something electrifying being in a town that suddenly finds themselves in the World Series for the first time in over two decades. This isn't the happiest place in the world, with the auto industry shaking up and people losing their jobs all over the place, so it's great to have something to be excited for... for once.
