Who was the first ever celebrity to portray him or herself on the show? OOO OOO! I KNOW! I KNOW! PICK ME! We should really just start a Simpsons Trivia thread... I'd spend the entire day there.

If Oogie cedes the question (nope, not the McCartneys) then I'll count my honor as regained and allow coccatino to answer. Oogie?

Who is Tony Bennett?

Correct! We would have accepted it not in the form of a question, but Tony Bennett is indeed the first celebrity to play himself on the Simpsons, in the second season episode where Homer becomes a baseball mascot and moves the family to Capital City.
Nicely done, c!

Dancing Homer! and he does terribly in a dance off with the other teams mascot. I don't know much about what has transpired over the past 3 or 4 seasons, but when it comes to the earlier stuff, I know waaay more than is healthy. I actually won a contest in college based on useless Simpsons knowledge. You know you're a geek when...

...you become giddy after finding episodes of Where in the World is Carman Sandiego? on Youtube. EDIT: You also know you're a geek when you purposefully search for episodes of Where in the World is Carman Sandiego? on Youtube.

You know you're a geek when you confess to your friends that you wish you were Japanese so you could see the last season of Sailor Moon on TV, because it apparantly contains too much explicit content for American television. Also if you enjoy this video more than you probably should: www.youtube.com/watch?v=mU2jZJyQ9qM.:EDIT:. Warning about that video: uses profanity and deals with strong adult themes.

I almost bought Old Spice because of those ads. Wait, do they make Old Spice for girls? I should look into that.
You know you're a geek when you pull your arm playing Wii. Understand, when I'm working I'm lifting heavy stuff 24/7. And I pulled my arm playing Wii. Oh, the shame.

You know you're a geek when you're ironing your light blue graduation robe and a Santa Claus beard to see the midnight release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. And your friend is painting his entire body greenish-white so he can be Voldemort. And then the two of you rehearse "epic battle scenes" to perform while waiting for the movie to start. PS - Our dream of the "epic battle" never became a reality. The paint started burning and my friend had to wash it all off.

So, I went to go see "Taming of the Shrew" tonight [geek] with my mom [geek^2] for the second time [geek^3]. And who should sit down in front us?
Me: ohmuhgaw ohmuhgaw ohmuhgaw look mom it's TIGH!!! Mom: Who?
So, yeah, it was Tigh from BSG. Mightily did I quell the urge to go up to him at intermission and ask him, shifty-eyed, as to whether he actually was a Cylon. And if he could get Jamie Bamber's number for me.
