15/16.
However, it did take me about a full year after my introduction to the internet (not too many years ago) to figure out what the hell lol meant and why everyone was saying it so damned much.

I can identify, Jay. When I first climbed aboard the SS Internet, I saw someone use 'j/k' (for 'just kidding') in a chat room. I spent five minute utterly confusing people asking if they were electronic engineers, talking about JK style flipflop circuits. Hooray me!

Lo. THAT must have been interesting!
"Hey, I see we have some electronic engineers in here! What about those circuits, huh?"

Seriously, it was awful. I wouldn't leave it alone, either. I thought I'd overheard a technical term I recognized, and was curious as to why they were talking about it. Talk about a newb.

Haha, well, at least you got an amusing anecdote out of it!
It's worse though when you get used to saying things like "lol" and "brb" online, and then they randomly slip out in normal conversation. It shows just how much of a nerd you are.

Do you say "laugh out loud" or do you actually spell the acronym verbally?

No, I've actually spelled it out before...it's really quite sad.

For no particuar reason that reminded me of something that happened a while back:
In a crowd of my brother's friends I barely know, picking up in the middle of a conversation... [some funny guy I didn't know was a trekkie] Revenge is a dish best served cold. [me] and it's very cold... [me, internal monolouge] NOOOO! Don't show your trekkiness! Your bro isn't here to save you from getting your ass kicked in! NOOOOO! [me] out there [point to exit, this being winter and me being a whus] [some funny guy I didn't know was a trekkie] ...and it's very cold in space. [me, internal monolouge] Dammit! I was going to have that line! Dammit dammit dammit I need a drink dammit dammit. [me] Oh.

Haha, you should have just gone for the trekiness...and if he hadn't been a trekkie and had no idea what the hell you were talking about, then you could have just laughed it off and change the subject!
You know, I've never met any hardcore trekkies in my day. It makes me sad.

14/16
Not bad considering I didn't know a lot of them and just picked what sounded the most appropriate. ^^ I missed the sysop and DSL questions.
