I'm surprised nobody's brought this up already, but is anyone planning on picking up the Indiana Jones DVD box set that just got released? Any favourite Indiana Jones quotes/memories?

Hell yeah! Already got it. Favorite memory? The first time I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark. That Egyptian guy came out with a scimitar, waves it around menacingly. Indy just shoots him. I nearly died laughing.

Yeah, but in this NEW version, a CGI Greedo shows up and shoots at Indy *first*.

I heard that Harrison Ford was supposed to do something with his whip there, and after like 20 takes the diarreha was getting to him and he just gave up and pulled out a gun. Don't know if that's just rumor or true, but I lean towards the latter. I do remember seeing Temple of Doom in the Drive-in when I was a kid and being scared senseless of the scene where the guy pulls out the kid's still beating heart. I also vividly remember them slicing open the snake and all the little snakes (I think?) coming out at dinner, and eating monkey brains. Haven't watched ToD since. Favorite is definitely Last Crusade. And "No ticket" is just an absolute classic

Lissa: that story about the diarrhea is quite true. The fight with the scimitar man was supposed to be this epic battle, and the guy had trained for weeks. Ford suggested the "why don't I just shoot him" thing to Spielberg, and it flew. Of course, Mr Sword was something pissed off, but...
I hope, I hope, I hope that SOMEWHERE on the DVD is the footage of Harrison Ford stapling his hat to his head. I've seen this footage before, and it's mindblowing...

I saw the stapling on a special for The Last Crusade, on TV once.

I'm still debating whether or not to purchase the set. If this (the third bullet) is on the special features disc, it's a must-own. Although something tells me that footage will never see the light of day.

Thus far the Indy set is top o' the Xmas list for me, along with the first season of Alias.
*Not saying that Alias is any sort equal to Indy, just that it's on my Xmas list*

One of my favorite things from the Indy movies is the end of The Last Crucade when they're going off into the sunset and they're doing it for like 5 minutes. Just stare at them, you'll start thinking they're really weird shadow puppets.

Yeah, but in this NEW version, a CGI Greedo shows up and shoots at Indy *first*. I nearly wet myself with laughter at this. Thought you might like to know. Favorite Indy moments? Well, I've been known to randomly shout, "I step where you step! I touch nothing!" in situations where it doesn't even apply. Other than that, I like the part in Last Crusade where Indy's dad shoots up the tail of the biplane.

Yeah, but in this NEW version, a CGI Greedo shows up and shoots at Indy *first*. Actually ToD has been cut to make the DVD set more "family-friendly", but then we've been watching the family-friendly version (~1 min shorter) over here in the UK since it came out .

Well, my darling dear (my fiancée, not Justin) got me the set for my birthday, and although it's a little underwhelming, feature-wise, it's still an excellent set of movies to own. Watching Raiders of the Lost Ark the other night in crystal clear glory was a new treat to me, and one I'm not likely to tire of soon. Oh, and it finally pushed us to the requirement of having to purchase a proper DVD shelf to start housing our movies on. Hooray!
Still haven't watched ToD yet, can't comment on the family friendliness level. But as long as it's not as bad as the government agents in ET waving around walky talkies instead of guns, it should be good.
Fave feature moment so far: watching John Rhys-Davies describe, with great aplomb, HIS experience with diarrhea on the set of Raiders. Pretty funny.

This was a few posts ago, but the hat-stapling can be seen on the 4th disc. I think it's in the teaser for Last Crusade. Correct me if I'm wrong.
