Before I get started, I wasn't really sure which board this should go on, but as it's film related, I put it on the Movie board...
So what is the greatest or your favorite Movie soundtrack.
I have to say the NMBC soundtrack, and Clerks {Can't Even Tell is still my fav song ever}.

I'm a nut for the Grosse Point Blanke soundtrack......big Clash fan here.......I nearly shat my scoobies to here them and the Beat in the same movie......and the Specials.....and the Violent Femmes.......
For just orchestral scores I'll go with Basil Poledouris......especially Conan: The Barbarian....and particularly "The Anvil of Crom" from the opening titles........a frequent play on the ol' PC........never has googling for pictures of "MacGyver" felt so much like "crushing your enemies to hear the lamentation of the women".....

Well I'd like to continue the discussion. Currently, I have two movie soundtracks tied for first in my mind. The first is Pirates of the Carribean. The two main themes for the movie that are mixed into most of the tracks in some way (the "good guys" theme and the "bad zombie guys" theme) just get stuck in my head so easily. I never get bored listening to the CD. The second is Donnie Darko. Damn, this movie had extremely good atmospheric music, especially on the creepy side of things. Not to mention the vocal tracks are cool as well. The eighties songs that the movie uses completely take you back to the era, and the song "Mad World" sung by Gary Jules is one of the most tear-jerking songs I've ever heard.

I loved the soundtracks to Akira and Run Lola Run.

Okay, it's a major toss up with me. SLC Punk! or Tank Girl for the punk'y style music; or Donnie Darko or Waking Life for atmosphere and style.
But if I had to choose, SLC Punk! would be my pick.

Wow, it looks like I'm the only forum-goer who has a soft spot for smooth R&B. My vote goes to "Waiting to Exhale". It has over 16 wonderful tracks by many legendary (at least in our own time) artists. While I'm not a huge fan of Whitney Houston, "Why Does it Hurt So Bad" always makes me teary-eyed. Other wonderful tracks include the uber-smooth "Let it Flow" by Toni Braxton and "Not Gon' Cry" by Mary J. Blige. Melancholy has never sounded so sweet. ;D

Pulp Fiction, no contest in my eyes. It's just a great collection of songs that you can listen to no matter what you're doing. Say what you will about QT as a director or a human being, but the man knows how to choose his music.

Just recently got the Tank Girl soundtrack. It doth rock. Others in my collection:
Jurassic Park Spirited Away Beetlejuice Edward Scissorhands Resident Evil (the quality of which is inversly proportional to the movie's quality- it's pretty good, in other words) Night at the Roxbury (which has since been rendered unplayable-darn) South Park: BLU
That's all I can think of.

I agree with Grape on the Grosse Point Blanke soundtrack. A lot of things worth listening to in the 80s were on that soundtrack. I can't think of any other ones.

There's no more discussion? Darn. hahaha...silly Head Mutant....its just a figure of speech. I would also like to add the cheesy, yet oddly compelling, Flashdance and Dirty Dancing soundtracks.
