I think the Hobbit would be accepted by a larger audience, being the tighter, shorter, easier story and given the complaining you get about the length and the multiple story elements of LotR. Lots of people, it seems, are too whussy for LotR.

I think you need to start a few more threads on the topic. What is this, "Justin Gets ADHD Day"?

Yeah, I was seriously wondering if someone hacked his account.

At least I was able to sticky all these important discussion threads, and contribute valuable visual data as well.

Why, exactly, did you sticky them?

Mainly so that when whatever psychotropic drugs Justin has accidentally ingested wear off, he'll come to see what he's done and feel the appropriate shame.
Also to show off my great LOTR engrish mistranslation pics.
But mostly because I haven't abused my moderator powers for a while.

At least I'm not the only one that's lost. (I understand the posts. I just don't understand the IMDb type format.) I was just assuming Justin was drunk

Color me confused, too. After I read these, I went to IMDB to see if there was anything about it, and the closest I could find was an article that was titled "Movie Version of 'The Hobbit' May Be Years Away". It says So it doesn't seem very definite, and certainly not worthy of so many threads. But maybe I just don't get the joke (I seem to have been humor-impaired lately).

To put in my tuppence worth - I think it would be fantastic, especially the Riddle scene, but only if Peter does it... And poor Ian Holm - think of having to wear all those prosthetics to look young again for hours and hours...

Oh, they'd never use Ian Holm. Sad, but true.
There's a bit in the actor's commentary track for Fellowship about how Ian Holm had his face taped back for the scene in Gollum's cave for the flashback right at the beginning. I seem to remember that Peter Jackson all but admitted that Holm is now far too old to play Bilbo at the right age he'd have to be in The Hobbit. So there'd likely be another actor, probably one picked to visually and aurally resemble Holm.
Although the good news is there's no reason at all they couldn't still use Ian McKellen...

You know, I don't really know why they can't use Ian Holm. When we first see him in Bag End, he's wearing no special makeup (correct?), and since he has the ring he wasn't supposed to have changed at all from the time he first got the ring. Unless Holm himself has aged horribly in the intervening years from when those scenes were shot.
