Yeah, I just saw that today, and it was totally awesome. I mean, Jim Carry's really been branching out, because Joel was a totally different character than what he usually does. And it was really weird, but still not that hard to follow for some reason. Definatly worth seeing.
Any other thoughts?

Definitely worth a trip to the multiplex, as Charlie Kaufman always seems to be. Jim Carrey is once again phenominal in a dramatic role that will go unrecognized come awards time, he made Joel very real and very relatable. The sappiness of The Majestic, the imitation of Man on the Moon, and the larger-than-life caricature-ness of The Truman Show are gone and instead we are treated to a real person with virtues and flaws that are deeper than token character traits.
Same goes for Kate Winslet, who I have not seen much of outside of Titanic and Heavenly Creatures, who brought the same depth and sensitivity to Clementine. Again, the chracter could have very easily been pigeonholed into one or two archtypes but is instead given layers of emotion and motivation that are only hinted at onscreen but have obviously been given serious thought by the actor, dirctor, and screenwriter.
Equal kudos to Mark Ruffalo (who has finally put in a performance I enjoyed), Elijah Wood, Kirsten Dunst, and Tom Wilkinson. Each created a believable and enjoyable character that fulfilled their necessary function without feeling like exposition machines.
For a story that has been done a hundred times before, everyone involved did a hell of a job making it feel quite new again. Except for the Best Boy Electric - he wasn't a team player. Yeah, that's right. You didn't think I'd notice, did ya? Well I *DID*, and you ruined it for everyone! Shame! Shame on you!
Al -Was that too much? I can never tell.

Beware...
The Union will get you. And they WILL find you. They have long arms, and they don't appreciate anonymous individuals picking on their Best Boy crews.

Yeah, this is my new favorite Charlie Kaufman movie. And my new favorite Kate Winslet movie. But you're right, the Best Boy totally phoned it in. He was waaaaay better on his last flick.

I still like "Malkovich" best, although this was good too. I think I probably didn't connect with it as much as I should have since I've never really been through a bad break-up.

I don't think I 'got' this movie, I got the gist of the story, but I still found it confusing when I was watching it. Plus I don't think I really got a good sense of the characters, I didn't think their relationship was that interesting. they didn't really show any sort of passion between Joel and Clementine... aah maybe I need to watch it again.
